Dolcezza

We searched for a bit to try and find the best gelato in DC. I’m not 100% sure we found it, but this would be a great start! We came here and the line was limited but definitely grew right after we got our ice cream. We really enjoyed the pistachio, the dark chocolate, and the strawberry. The kids liked the red velvet, but I personally thought it was too decadent and didn’t have an overall great flavor, just tasted really sweet. The serving sizes are pretty strong, and it’s decent value given cost. If you’re looking for great gelato, this is worth traveling to in DC!

Dolcezza Gelato & Coffee at CityCenterDC is a must-stop when you’re craving a sweet treat in the heart of downtown DC. Their handcrafted gelato and sorbetto are made fresh daily, and it truly shows. We’ve been loyal fans for years, and the quality is always consistent. My personal favorite is the mango gelato, especially when it’s perfectly ripe and vibrant. I also love their seasonal specials like the passionfruit mousse, which are bright, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. Other popular flavors include Coffee & Cookies, Avocado Honey Orange Sorbetto, and the signature affogato with hot espresso poured over silky gelato. Dolcezza also serves coffee and tea, making it an easy stop whether you’re in the mood for dessert, a caffeine break, or both. A quick heads up, weekends can get busy and the line often stretches outside, but it moves quickly and is absolutely worth the wait. Beyond cones and cups, Dolcezza offers push pops and pints to go, perfect for enjoying while strolling through CityCenter or saving for later. There is limited seating inside, along with a standing counter by the window if you want to linger for a moment. With multiple locations across the DC area, a great scoop is never far away. When the craving hits, Dolcezza is always a good idea.

This gelato is reminiscent of some of our favorite spots in Italy! My husband and I stopped here for dessert after having a very poor dining experience for our anniversary. I got a small with pistachio and dark chocolate (one of my absolute favorite pairings), while my husband got a small with black and white cookie batter and roasted strawberry. Each flavor was sooooo good, and the gelato honestly made our night. We’ll definitely be making stops here again and again!

Visited twice and had the Dark Chocolate Fudge, Blueberry Lavender, Roasted Strawberry Gelato, which was dense, rich, velvety and silky. Each flavor had the right pure and authentic intensity to match its name. Ordering lines were long, but service was fast. That said, we asked for a specific order of how we wanted our flavors scooped, but the server ignored our simple request, and didn't seem to care so we decided not to leave a tip.
