Crema's Take

This beloved NYC institution elevates the humble doughnut into an art form, with pillowy, preservative-free creations like their standout tiramisu Italian-style and jam-and-vanilla varieties that have visitors comparing them to the best they've found anywhere. Beyond the exceptional pastries themselves, Doughnut Plant offers a genuinely warm experience—whether you're grabbing a quick coffee and treat or settling into their outdoor seating for a slower moment—backed by consistently friendly service that keeps people coming back. The combination of creative, signature doughnuts made with real care and an unpretentious, welcoming atmosphere makes this more than just a pastry shop; it's a neighborhood gathering spot.

Having my first visit to this popular donuts spot, great service and fast, it has an outdoor area to seat as well. Today I am trying the tiramisu. An Italian style donut.

Absolutely amazing. No words can describe genuinely how soft, delicious, fresh and without a shadow of a doubt one of the top 5 donut shops in NYC. I'm not a bot or anything just to reassure you so trust when I say it's worth every penny! I'm a biker so honestly it's hard to find a place where you can find the balance of an incredible staff, little to no wait times and food that matches such amazing customer service. I do highly recommend their cold brew more than anything. The overall taste of both their donuts and their coffees were unlike anything I've ever tasted.

A little surprised to see that this place had got so many high reviews, when the doughnuts unfortunately were quite disappointing. We went for the chocolate one and the hazelnut cream one. The chocolate one is lacking taste, both with the dough and the icing on top. Took one bite and quickly found out that this isn’t worth any of the calories. The hazelnut cream slightly better, but also this one with general lack of taste. Apparently the hazelnut cream fillings homemade, «like Nutella», as the guy behind the counter said, but comparing that cream to the indisputable chocolate king, is a disgrace. Took two bites of this one and let the rest go. Definitely a huge disapointment. On the positive side, the guys working there were really nice, friendly and helpful. Also the place itself is cozy. As for the taste and quality of the donuts, this is among the poorest I have had in New York. If you want flavourful and tasty donuts, you should definitely go somewhere else.

In Austria, I had the best jelly-filled doughnut—pillowy, rich, and made without preservatives. I’ve been chasing that experience ever since, and this came the closest. Today I tried the jam-and-vanilla filled and the coconut cream… both were absolutely over-the-top delicious. Soft, indulgent, and worth every bite. 🍩✨
