Ash Coffee
1189 Virginia Ave NE, Atlanta, GA
Crema's Take
“Ash Coffee is a charming Virginia Highlands spot that's earned its reputation as the neighborhood's best with a genuinely warm welcome, eclectic vintage décor, and a menu that goes beyond the basics—think seasonal creations like salted brown butter pumpkin lattes and viral-worthy ube lattes alongside approachable favorites like iced chai. The small, thoughtfully designed space nails that rare balance of cozy for lingering with friends and efficient enough for a quick pastry and coffee run, with both inviting indoor seating and outdoor tables that open onto a quaint, walkable street. Reviewers consistently praise not just the quality of the drinks and breakfast offerings, but the genuine hospitality from staff who make you feel like you belong the moment you walk in.”

I absolutely wish I had this place back at my hometown in Florida. You walk in and there is knick knacks everywhere but the employees immediately greet you with a warm welcome. Great selection of food with vegan options that is seperated from everything else and lots of coffee and tea options. The sausage biscuit sandwich tastes homemade and it is worth the price! It is huge and delicious. I had a latte with oat milk and some syrups and it was delicious as well! While waiting for your order there is a lot of eye catching decorations and books and more to buy and plenty of seating! I wish I could take this coffee shop back home with me it was that great and fantastic. I wish I got the employees names that worked there today but they were absolutely super nice and welcoming!
Thus shop is doing all things right! Let’s start with how we got here ! A friend sent me a picture of a Tik Tok picture featuring an ube latte! I responded with - when are we going? We decided we would wait until the weekend since we would have to drive from Cobb county to the city. I started doing some research and did not see ube latte on the menu. I called the phone number listed on yelp- but it appears it is just a cell number and went directly to voicemail. I went to the website and found an email address. I sent a basic question/ do you have an Ube latte on your menu? To my surprise I received a response! This simple response was exhibit A that they don’t play about customer service On Saturday morning I arrived to the shop around 11am! The coffee shop is a neighborhood spot! As such, you will just have to find street parking in the neighborhood. I ended up parking a block away. This place was crowded! I did have to wait in a line. However, I enjoyed checking out the item for sale while waiting in line. The book titles had me laughing , this is your go to spot for a unique gift! We ended up ordering the following: 1. Hot Matcha latte with ube and oat milk 2. Hot ube latte with oat milk 3. Cheese danish NOTE: I did confirm that the matcha they use is NOT pre- sweetened. This is a huge plus in my book!! The item came out quickly. All items weee served in to go containers. I am not sure if this is just standard practice even if you are dining in. We were able to grab a table outside! However, this place was crowded and open seating was limited! My matcha was AMAZING! It was not too sweet, which is how I like my matcha. The cheese danish was also delightful. My friend said she enjoyed her latte too. I will note that I did not taste the Ube flavor. This coffee shop is a vibe, but also serves yo tasty drinks and treats! I would highly recommend checking this spot out !
Super cute coffee shop! Had a great selection of breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I had an iced chai and it was delicious i look forward to going back and trying their coffee. The pastries we had were perfectly flaky and had lots of filling. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and they also double as a cute trinket/gift type store!
I loved Ash Coffee! The surrounding area feels really quaint and I found street parking easily nearby. I tried a salted brown butter pumpkin latte which was on their seasonal menu, and I really enjoyed it. They sell really cute gift items, but it does take up about half of the area. There’s a lot of tables but they’re clustered kind of close together.
Ash is relatively new to Virginia Highlands but has most definitely taken the cake for the best coffee place in VaHi! The atmosphere is stunning with a small shop, lots of indoor tables, outdoor seating, and a couch nook in the back! They have nailed the decor! Ash is always full of people so depending on what time you go beware you may not find a table! They not only serve coffee but also delicious breakfast items and desserts! I would say 10/10 make sure to stop in here!!
