Lit Java Coffee & Books is one of those places that gets it right across the board. Customer service: The staff is solid—friendly, respectful, and on point. They greet you when you walk in, keep the energy good, and they actually take the time to help without rushing you. You don’t feel like just another order… you feel welcomed. Community engagement: This spot is bigger than coffee. They’re plugged into the community and it shows. Whether it’s supporting local authors, creating space for conversations, or just how they treat regulars and newcomers, Lit Java feels like a real hub—people connecting, building, and vibing. Relaxing atmosphere: The atmosphere is peaceful and laid back. You can come in, sit down, read, work, or just breathe. The whole setup—coffee + books + calm energy—makes it easy to slow down and reset. Bottom line: if you want great coffee, real hospitality, and a place that feels like community, Lit Java Coffee & Books is the move.
A Black-owned, women-owned bookstore + coffee shop by Dewanda & Angie Lit Java feels like stepping into a friend’s living room — warm, cozy, and full of heart. Dewanda and Angie really did their thing with this space. It’s the kind of spot where the coffee hits, the books call your name, and the people make you feel seen before you even sit down. Today, Landry helped me out and was just the sweetest. Anna was working too — both of them carrying that same gentle, welcoming energy that makes you wanna stay longer than you planned. Even the owners came over and spoke to us. You can tell they care. Not the fake “customer service voice,” but real community-centered kindness. One of the things I love most is how Lit Java pours into the neighborhood. They sponsor Readers to Leaders, offering tutoring and books for kids who deserve every opportunity to shine. That’s not just business — that’s purpose. And if you’ve never been on a Saturday morning? Whew. Local authors pull up, small businesses get love, and it turns into this soft little cultural gathering — like soul food for your creativity. It’s peaceful, it’s inspiring, and it feels like home. Just a heads up: they close at 3 PM and reopen at 6 PM — but honestly, even that feels cute and cozy. Like, “let us breathe and reset so we can keep loving on y’all right.” The coffee? Smooth and comforting. The vibes? Cozy, creative, and Black-girl-magic rich. The intention? Everything our community deserves. Lit Java is more than a bookstore and coffee shop — it’s a whole experience. Dewanda and Angie created a space full of warmth, care, and possibility, and it shows in every moment.
This new shop in town, is so cute. They even have a kids area. Peppermint frap and Matcha strawberry were great. Books and coffee.
I had a great time hanging out at LIT Java where I got to meet Dewana (owner and Army vet!), Jennifer (customer and Air Force vet!) and a few others at their weekly Veteran Meet Up. Paul, a Vietnam vet and author!, showed up and stole the show making sure we knew our Texas history! Such a cool place! Definitely swing by if you’re in Pearland and you want a brew and you want to support a veteran owned business! Or just come to a meetup! The coffee was excellent! I have to hurry back to try their kolaches and muffins!
Such a gem!! Spacious place to read and sip your delicious coffee! I had the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso and my friend had the matcha! Both so yummy 😋 we also were able to meet the owners! Sweet ladies and I truly appreciated them allowing local vendors display and sell in their storefront 🤍 cannot wait to be back! Stop in, you'll love it!
