Crema's Take
“This bright, welcoming spot in West Hartford has genuinely embraced inclusivity, making a point to hire and train staff members with disabilities, creating a family-like atmosphere where everyone feels they belong. The cafeteria-style setup offers fresh-made breakfast and lunch items including made-to-order pasta, though coffee quality seems inconsistent across reviews, so you might want to stick with their pastries and full breakfast menu. It's perfect for lingering with your laptop or gathering with friends in their airy, pleasant space, though be prepared that food can take a while during busy times.”

With the word beans in the business name, I expected more. For example, I ordered a cortado. I received it in a to-go cup even though I was dining in. I was asked if I wanted a single or double shot of espresso but traditionally cortados are made with a double shot. The steamed milk was subpar. The quiche I ordered was tasty but it was a little crusty around the edges as if it had been sitting around all morning. A staff member came by and asked if he could take my plate. I said no and he picked it up and walked away. The atmosphere is busy, open and spacious and adjoins a restaurant. The atmosphere is fine but I will not be going back.
BeanZ has a bright, airy & inclusive atmosphere. This cafeteria style breakfast & lunch establishment has a concise yet varied menu. Everything is made fresh to order, including the pasta. They have a pleasant staff which includes some lovely differently abled people. The prices are reasonable. The food is delicious & well portioned. I'm looking forward to returning in the near future.
I have been here many times. The coffee is always horrible, tastes like water... No flavor. I stopped ordering coffee in there long time ago. The wait to get your food can be excessive. This is my last time going here. The food is delicious but the atmosphere is going down. The majority of the staff is awesome, but the experience with the front counter staff today left alot to be desired. Rude, abrupt and dismissive.
Staff is super friendly! Everything I tried was wonderful and the atmosphere is super inviting and pleasant. I am happy there is a wheelchair ramp for my students when we came here on community. Also, their T-Shirts are Bella+Canvas which are super comfy and high quality, I had to get one because "Everyone Belongs" is an amazing message! Keep up the good work!
10/10 staff, seating, food, coffee, and atmosphere. A top 5 cafe in Connecticut, for sure. "Everyone Belongs" rings true as they make a point to hire and train those with disabilities. Feels like family in here, where everyone is looking out for each other. Great selection on the menu for breakfast and lunch, with an area dedicated to catering and pasta. A ton of ways to try your coffee and quick service. The space is so big with so many tables to choose from. You are certain to find a spot that fits you. Free wifi made it easy for me to work here as an alternative office and I don't feel like I'm taking up space with so many tables. Explore the little shelf library of literature about people with special needs or bring your dog in for a visit. So very impressed. My only complaint is that there is no dedicated area for me to bring plates when I am finished.
