Red's Donuts
1646 Fremont Blvd, Seaside, CA
Crema's Take
“This beloved Seaside institution bakes donuts that locals swear are worth the early arrival, with customers traveling hundreds of miles to experience their distinctive creations like maple frosted custard-filled varieties. The energy is genuinely community-focused and busy from opening, though you'll want to arrive early before the best flavors sell out—the trade-off for freshness that clearly matters more here than maintaining a full display case.”

The donuts are good, when they have them. I'm here at 9:20am and once again they're out of the most basic donuts. No regular chocolate. No regular glaze. No chocolate bars. Honestly it's mind numbing. This is an every day thing and nothing has been done about it after many years of business. Today I had to settle on two glaze twists to finish out my dozen because THEY WERE OUT OF EVERYTHING. And the lady has the nerve to try and charge me an extra 2 dollars for taking something I didn't even really want. I complained and got the regular deal. But the whole thing is absurd. My wife loves this place. Just don't think I can continue giving them my business with such poor service. You can't be a donut shop without regular chocolate and regular glaze donuts. Get a hold of yourselves. You would make more money. That's what a business is about, isn't it? Not here I guess.
Bomb Donuts. You’d think there just donuts, but are they really? I live in an area where ‘good’ donuts are almost nonexistent. Recently traveled 1000 miles to visit family and said we were looking forward to hitting a good donut shop while in Ca. We were instantly referred to REDS. Absolutely excellent!! Definitely going back because I enjoy a good donut. Thanks Reds.!!
Very bad service 3 times in a row. We wanted to like them because the donuts are great, but I can’t support an establishment that treats you like trash every time. The majority of the customers are Hispanic which is completely normal and fine, but it is not fine to give preferential treatment to Hispanic customers that sneak up to the front of the line. The last 3 times I’ve gone I’ve been standing in line out the door just to see someone who walked up after me get taken care of before me. I can’t stomach to give this place another cent after my experiences with them
Swung by here for a donut while in Monterey. It was busy and looked like a local favorite. The donuts and coffee were fabulous. Fresh and tasty. Staff was busy but helpful and assisting when needed. Parking can get a little tight.
The donuts here are absolutely delicious, and they sell fast, so get there as early as you can. We got a few different ones to try out (maple frosted (both custard filled and not), raspberry filled, lemon filled, buttermilk, and a sugar donut), and aside from the Buttermilk, I loved them all. The raspberry filled was the best raspberry filled I've had in years. I'll definitely go back for that one (and maple frosted just because I've always loved maple donuts).
