Crema's Take

This Albuquerque breakfast institution earns its reputation with thoughtfully executed classics—particularly their celebrated breakfast burritos and french toast—paired with well-roasted coffee in a genuinely welcoming environment that locals have embraced for good reason. The sunny outdoor patio and rotating local artist displays create the kind of unhurried, community-focused atmosphere that makes it easy to linger over breakfast with family or friends (and your dog), though the juice program and consistency could use some polish to match the kitchen's solid work.

After living in New Mexico for 20 years, I’m always excited to try a new local breakfast spot, especially one advertising a strong selection of breakfast burritos. Unfortunately, this visit turned into one of the worst restaurant service experiences I’ve had in a long time. It took about 15 minutes just to be seated and another 10 minutes to receive water. Our server told us he would be right back, but then disappeared entirely. We ended up waiting roughly 35 minutes without anyone returning to our table. During that time we asked multiple servers for help, including requesting lemons and napkins. One server told us they did not have lemons, yet we watched other tables being served lemons shortly after. After about 35 minutes of being completely ignored, we actually had to go inside the restaurant ourselves just to let someone know that we had not even been offered drinks yet. Eventually we were brought coffee, but still no lemons. Nearly 45 minutes into the visit, the server finally came back to ask if we wanted to order. At that point we explained that we had already been waiting a significant amount of time and had only just received our drinks. When the food arrived, we again needed basic items like salt, pepper, and additional napkins, but the server never returned to check on us. We finished our entire meal without anyone coming back to the table. We eventually asked to speak with the manager. When he came out, he was actively eating and had food in his mouth while speaking with us. At one point food was actually projecting from his mouth while he was talking, which was extremely unprofessional and honestly quite gross during a conversation about our dining experience. The manager acknowledged that our table had essentially been “forgotten,” but then told us we should have asked for help within three minutes of not being served. This was particularly frustrating considering we had already asked multiple servers for assistance throughout the visit and had clearly communicated that we were not receiving service. While the food itself was decent, the level of service and the lack of accountability from management made the overall experience extremely disappointing. Situations like this are exactly when management has an opportunity to step in, correct the issue, and take responsibility. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. I hope ownership takes the time to review this experience and address the service and management issues, because no customer should have to spend nearly an hour just trying to receive basic service.

My family and I had a great time here. The food was excellent but the drinks could use fresh squeezed juice as the orange juice was not good and I was hoping to see grapefruit. The specials are wonderful so I still highly recommend this place and hope to see improved drink options soon! We will be back.

Fairly busy Saturday @ lunchtime but was quickly seated & served. Extremely friendly 10 star staff. Excellent menu (I had the Classic breakfast). Love the art display to promote local artists.

My wife and I had a great breakfast at this establishment off Cutler! Great food and even better environment as we sat outside enjoying our meals! Try the David burrito and the breakfast bagel sandwich, both were excellent!

Great breakfast spot in Albuquerque. The french toast was sweet, the coffee was well-roasted, the eggs were cooked perfectly sunny side up. Also dog-friendly. The outdoor patio we stayed at had a bit of a pigeon problem, but they didn't disrupt us while we were dining. The grilled chicken sandwich was exquisite. The blue cheese slaw was tangy, the chicken was thick and juicy, and the brioche buns were great. Overall, it's a good, affordable breakfast spot.
