Crema's Take

Nestled at the end of Ellicott City's Main Street, Old Mill Cafe feels like a local secret with its quaint interior and charming courtyard seating that invites you to linger over a carefully crafted cup. The menu goes beyond standard coffee shop fare—their seasonal specialties like pumpkin scones and rich, flavorful seasonal brews pair beautifully with freshly baked pastries and hearty breakfast plates made with genuine care. With genuinely warm staff, ample seating both indoors and out, and a vibe that equally welcomes solo laptop work or gathering with friends and family, it's the kind of place regulars keep coming back to.

Truly enjoyed this visit, as the combination of a great vibe, comfy interior, kind customer service, local flavor, and tasty food was a positive one! Located at the end of Ellicott City's Main Street, just beyond the train bridge, they have their own parking lot and are a short walk from a large public lot. Liked my BLT on sourdough plus my spinach salad. I appreciated their sincere commitment to local artists and history. Variety of visitors, and all seemed to be doing well. Clean.

I am so happy I have found this gem. I've been back a few times already, and each time I have a great experience. The food is great, the drinks are phenomenal, and the service is exceptional. Its a cafe style restaurant, you order at the counter and wait at your table with a number. The food is quick! The sandwich's have all been good! My favorite so far has been the hummus toast, but it was nearly tied with the caprese. The coffee was delicious, and high quality too. I enjoyed a latte with toffee caramel syrup and oat milk! The shop has its own private parking lot. despite its popularity, I have never once failed to find a spot. This place is a must try!

Delicious bakery items, sandwiches and coffee & tea selections. Friendly staff, plenty of seating, indoors and out. Outdoor seating is beautifully decorated. Seasonal coffee was delicious. Pumpkin scone perfect. Lots of unique local decor and food items for sale. Fun book nook.

We came here because of the reviews. However it was a little disappointing. Ambiance: quaint, cute little place with cute courtyard seating. Counter staff and waiting satff: very nice and pleasant greeting customers. Food: mehh, we ordered a Turkey and Cheddar sandwich, a caprese on sour dough bread instead of Ciabatta, a pumpkin spice latte and a harvest Chai (asked for bith to be extra extra hot). My Harvest Chai was really good except it was not extra hot. The pumpkin spice latte was bland, could not taste the pumpkin spice at all. Turkey sandwich was alright, nothing special too much mustard. Caprese sandwich: I have had better ones at different places - the Mozzarella was too thick, the pesto was salty and wasn't spread out, just a glob in the middle and same with the balsamic dressing, which makes everything saltier and sour. Other places use aged balsamic which has a little tangy and sweetness to it to balance out the pesto. I also notice there were not much choices in the cases perhaps because its 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Totally understandable. Over-all, nit up to par with all the lavishing reviews. But we definitely will come back for a second chance. Maybe, it's because it's late in the afternoon when we got there.
