Old Road Coffee

2024 Bayou Rd, New Orleans, LA

★★★★★4.7(260 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

This New Orleans neighborhood gem earns its stellar reputation with carefully crafted espresso drinks and cappuccinos that locals swear are among the best in town, paired with genuinely delicious pastries like their memorable tomato basil brioche. What really sets Old Road apart is the warm, genuinely welcoming atmosphere cultivated by a staff that clearly cares about making the space feel inclusive and friendly—though consistency can be a bit uneven depending on who's behind the bar. It's the kind of place where you're equally comfortable settling in for a long work session, catching up with friends, or simply lingering over a proper cup of coffee that's worth the trip across town.

I like the coffee but what keeps me going back are the incredible staff who have helped cultivate a diverse and welcoming space in the neighborhood. Old Road is a great place to work, chat, or chill with your pup. There is a real community of regulars who are also open and friendly, and the staff are a huge part in cultivating that community by remembering and engaging with customers in such a way that feels connective. Grateful for this space!

Man, cool spot but terrible service . Everytime i go in there the workers, exept one tall guy with Curly hair, are rude, stoic, unfriendly and today outright brash and dismissive. I asked the baristat if that was my coffe because i noticed the person before order something similar and did not want accidentally take someone order. All the times i asked her the batista about the coffee she looked away pretending to not hear me and rolled her eyes until i asked about a 4time and she answered me like i was a piece of crap. Mind you the place was not busy at all to say she was preocupued. Terrible terrible service. I tip each time regarldes of their already high prices , and i treat them with kindness , dignity, and respect. Im starting to think they only like their white clients. But either way, if that not true, ive been there a plethera of times and the team members are unhappy , not warm and rude. Its not a great feeling to wake up to get a coffee and receive stoic, infliendlyn, nasty, unpleasant encounters with service members. Stop working at places with customers if you hate people. Train members to deal with their anoyances. In a world already so cold, why be colder?

this coffee shop is one more reason to shop local!! It was absolutely precious with the decor and the tomato basil brioche I got was DELICIOUS! Definitely made my morning so much nicer after stopping by here. Made someone stopping by feel at home❤️

I keep coming back, lucky that I happen to live in the neighborhood! But seriously I would drive across town for their Joe, which they brew a proper cup of, I don't even bother with ordering fancy espresso drinks cause the drip is so pure, batter than half the Americanos I've had elsewhere. They have a wonderful eclectic & cozy interior which someday soon I will enjoy, but meantime they've got lots of patio tables and chairs to sit outside and people watch under a robust awning. They sell quite a nice variety of local roaster coffee beans by the pound. Open early, close late which is also a plus
