We came in on a weekday morning for breakfast at this cute little cafe. We had the place to ourselves. Our breakfast sandwiches were pretty good. I had their sausage and cheese sandwich.
I went to use the restroom during my visit today and was completely turned off by the experience—not just by the condition of the bathroom, but by the owner's response when I brought it up. The restroom smelled terrible and was clearly unclean (use your imagination). I simply let the owner know so it could be addressed for the next guest—not to place blame, but to be helpful. It could’ve been left that way by a customer or anyone, but either way, no one wants to try and wash their hands to eat in a restaurant and be greeted with a filthy restroom. Instead of acknowledging the concern, the owner became defensive and dismissive. She didn’t respond with an attempt to clean the restroom. There was only one customer so time and opportunity were not a factor. She seemed more upset that I said something than about the condition of the facility. Her attitude was completely off-putting. I don’t believe I’ll be back. A basic level of cleanliness and respect should not be too much to ask.
I screwed up a breakfast date, and Koni's was our third choice on the list. My first visit was met with a friendly cashier/waitress. You're a bit spoiled for choice in terms of menu items, but both my girlfriend and I chose "The Flying Horse" for breakfast. This sandwich had sausage, egg and cheese between two buttery-soft slices of French toast. The meal was delicious to say the least, but very affordable as well. Next time I'm out for breakfast, Koni's will be at the top of my list.
Convenient spot and pretty quick when theres not a big line. Food is good, i enjoyed my sandwich (the mitzi). Veggie sandwich was not bad, had hummus flavor and tasted fresh. I like that they use pesto on the pasta salad as opposed to just mayo, and having dill pickles on the side was nice. The coffee was okay, not amazing and wish they had more options. Decor inside is interesting, has more of a vintage troy brick vibe- its different, not as nice as the other trendy cafes but this place is more of a restaurant with reasonably priced food and much less of a cafe. Service was good when we went
Just discovered this not so hidden gem in Troy. Clean, Fast and Friendly was my first impression. Then I took a bite of "The G" (one of their roast beef sandwiches) and fell in love. Homemade chips, a great pickle and a fresh brewed ice tea with a shot of raspberry for $11 you'll never order anything else. Best part is the owner herself can be seen working in the back so you know there's love going into all she does. I'll be back. Update- I went back and had the same thing. Just as great. Third times the charm...
