Crema's Take
“Tucked away in Houston, this charming bakery-café draws regulars with its bold, moist cakes and thoughtfully crafted pastries that span traditional and specialty coffee drinks alongside an impressive range of gluten-free and vegan options. The vibrant red door and artistic mural hint at the warm, intentional aesthetic inside, where the exceptional staff and leisurely vibe make it the kind of place where you'll want to linger over a scone or slice of their signature tiramisu. It's the hidden gem that keeps people coming back once they discover it, blending serious baking craft with genuine hospitality.”

Was in the area looking for a dessert place and found this one highly recommend online. I was excited to see gluten free options and a lot of unique small cakes and baked goods. I got the tiramisu cheesecake for my husband and I got a gluten free spiced carrot cake muffin. The staff was not the most friendly but the baked goods were so good that I will be returning to check out more of the menu. They did seem to have a good amount of seating and it was quiet when I went so this would be a great place for a date or quiet place to study.
I have order cakes from Red before. Their cakes are typically moist with bold flavor. However, this 6in Lemon Blueberry cake was like eating 8 day old cornbread with really sweet cream cheese frosting. The taste of the frosting was so overwhelming that it was hard to find the lemon flavor and texture was dry. I always allow their cakes sit out a few hours before cutting, this did not make a difference in the texture. I suppose they were having an off day.
Literally a hidden gem! I have passed by this bakery for yearssss! I happened to walk in today & was pleasantly surprised! Delicious desserts, gluten & vegan free too! The staff is exceptional too 🫶 Oh & I also had their peppermint rose tea which was perfect on a cold day.
A Hidden Gem for Coffee & Scones Lovers – Red Dessert Dive I visited Red Dessert Dive today for the first time, and that’s all it took to place it firmly among my favorite spots for coffee and pastries. Nestled in the heart of the Heights on Studewood St., this cozy little café is a true gem. I ordered a stout Americano and a nitro cold brew with oat milk—both were outstanding! The Americano, made with beans from Little Dreamer Coffee Roasters, had a rich, full-bodied flavor that was perfect for slow sipping and good conversation. I also tried one of their Blondie Bars, which was wonderfully balanced—sweet but not overpowering. My companion instantly fell in love with the nitro cold brew; it was smooth, creamy, and deeply satisfying. The staff were kind and happy to answer all my questions about their coffee beans and house-made teas. Yes, they make their own tea blends under the name Camellia Tea, which I plan to explore on my next visit. Their tea selection sounds promising, with offerings like English Breakfast (Keemun), Coconut Dreams (black tea with coconut and lemongrass), Chai Latte, and Matcha. The space itself is small and inviting, with just enough parking for its size—a bonus in this area. While I hope I get the chance to return often, I know the place’s popularity might make that tricky! In short, Red Dessert Dive is an excellent spot for high-quality coffee, delightful treats, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Highly recommended for both coffee and tea lovers.
This was my first time visiting this charming little place. Right from the outside you can tell you’re in for a treat. The mural, bright red door, it just all has such a beautiful, chic aesthetic that carries all the way through the inside, too. The employee who helped me was very nice and made a wonderful latte for me. I tried the butterscotch s’mores bar and it was so decadent. I could only have a few bites and took the rest home lol. I loved this place and can’t wait to go back, and take other people there, too!
