Crema's Take

Tucked away on the second floor of an unassuming building near Union Station, Archives of Us is a hidden gem that rewards those who find it with expertly crafted matcha drinks that go far beyond the basics—think orange mint matcha and matcha einspänner alongside traditional espresso. The intimate, aesthetically refined space feels like discovering a secret, and it's become a destination worth the detour, whether you're between flights or willing to run miles out of your way for a perfectly caramelized canale and a expertly pulled shot.

A very cool little cafe on the second floor of a somewhat nondescript building. They serve some seriously good premium matcha. I got a latte while I was between Union Station and LAX, waiting for an international flight. The space is vibey, minimalistic, and seems like a decent place to get some remote work done. The staff aren’t pretentious or weird at all (not to stereotype baristas in semi-hidden matcha havens), and are actually very welcoming and helpful! I enjoyed my drink a lot. This is a spot worth hitting up if you’re a coffee or matcha lover. (They also have some sort of rotating food menu if you’re interested!)

Sweet spot indeed! Saw this on instagram recommended spots & had to take the time on my day off to come check this place out via running 4.8 miles!!! Best excuse ever lol You’re welcomed by entering an elevator that shoots you up to the second floor then you’re immediately in the shop. It’s jazzed out by a very cool studio set to the right playing vinyl music and very modern furniture setting. Theres also patio seating outside that I could see a popular area during warmer weather. I ordered their matcha drink and it tasted very authentic! The only sweetened to the drink was the cream on top! Excellent taste! There’s a 30 min parking validation if you parked at the garage which is super nice given that it’s next to Chinatown and it’s hard to find parking during weekend visits!

It is easy to miss this spot because there is very little signage downstairs and it is in the second floor. Once you get up there, as the elevator opens, you’ll know you’re in the right place. Cozy, warm ambiance, full of people (like a lot, we didn’t know it is a popular spot). Price range is Starbucks but the quality and craftsmanship of each drink is superb! We enjoyed all the drinks we ordered, particularly the Banana coffee one, can not forget how good it tasted!

⛾ orange mint matcha (seasonal)、matcha einspanner、matcha canale、wagyu slider aesthetics were on point🙂‍↕️ the drinks itself were not as impressive as i was hoping. though the orange mint matcha was interesting, it was a bit sweet, and the einspanner cream texture was a bit off. wagyu burger didn’t seem too special, but we did enjoy the canale! another con would be the expensive parking :( i do love the vibes for a yapping or working sesh tho

I really enjoyed grabbing matcha and pastries with some friends here. They only have one in their pastry case and luckily it’s one of my favorite pastries of all time: the canale. they are caramelized and crunchy on the outside with a custard texture on the inside. They had a few flavors and we got the matcha and earl gray ones and liked both. for drinks, we got the banana matcha, regular matcha latte, and a matcha latte with the cream top and they were all delicious. Banana and matcha have been having a moment this summer and we were really excited to try it out. Of the three beverages, the banana matcha latte was our favorite. The space is pretty large for a café close to DTLA.
