Crema's Take

This Newton Centre location draws crowds with its expansive, comfortable seating and genuinely excellent pastries that justify the buzz—especially if you're after creative specialty drinks like their standout pistachio latte with its peppery nutty notes or a silky matcha latte. Just know that while the space is perfect for lingering with a laptop or meeting a friend, the menu can be inflexible and the staff experience varies, so it's best approached as a destination for their signature baked goods and coffee craft rather than customization.

Compared to other locations, the staff (some of them) are not very nice and it's almost impossible to modify the menu. There are not many vegetarian or vegan options, and the ones they have nearly all have cilantro (which a lot of people hate). I tried to sub something without the cilantro during ordering, paid for my food, and then discovered they hadn't done it (without telling me). I was then informed the "chef" (chef, really? It's a notch above a fast food set-up) would not make substitutions. Fine, but tell me when I'm ordering. Don't let me drive away and find out at home I've been given something I can't eat. Manager was miserable. "Chef" was entitled. I'm glad she eats meat and loves cilantro, but the menu and service are for the customer, not for her. For these prices, I can't understand treating customers so poorly. Lastly, I used to live in Brookline and loved the Taste in St. Mary's. It feels like they just expect customers since it's Newton and busy. I won;t be going back.

Tatte is a chain of breakfast/brunch cafe serving up a wide variety of foods and drinks. The place itself is quite spacious, with a countertop seating as well as many tables. We got a matcha latte and a hot chocolate. The matcha latte was good, didn't have as much matcha taste as we hoped, but it was still good and had a nice consistency. The hot chocolate was similar, as it didn't have a strong chocolate taste but it was a little milky and tasted fine.

My favorite place to eat in Boston. Incredibly delicious hot chocolate and, as always, the best bakery .

I visited Tatte in Newton and absolutely loved it! 💕 The Pistachio Latte was amazing – it had real nutty texture with a hint of peppery flavor, making each sip fun and unique. The aroma and smooth taste were just perfect. The salad was so fresh and flavorful, really refreshing to eat. And the blueberry tart was a true highlight – sweet, juicy blueberries paired beautifully with the crisp cracker base and fresh cream. Delicious and well-balanced! 🫐✨ It can get quite busy, but trust me, it’s definitely worth the wait. Highly recommend stopping by! ☕🥗🍰
