Crema's Take

Edgar's Bakery in Madison is a bright, welcoming spot anchored by genuinely warm staff who go the extra mile, with plenty of natural light and parking that makes it easy to settle in for a while. Whether you're grabbing a traditional coffee drink to go or lingering over pastries with your laptop, the friendly service and clean, spacious setup create that rare "all welcome vibe" that keeps people coming back. Fair warning: the barista-crafted drink stations mean a bit of a wait during busy times, but the quality and care from the team—shout out to staff members like Rachel and Sara—makes it worth it.

Made an online purchase that was seamless. Order was correct on time and the staff were extremely professional and friendly. The location was clean inside and out and had the all welcome vibe. Plenty of seating inside and extremely clean dining area. Located in Town Madison which was easy to find and get to placed on a corner with lots of parking. The lady that helped me was the definition of a professional, she listened to me and assisted me with a first time purchase; that will now make me a repeat customer. I highly recommend you try this business and see how inviting this business is to the customers. Try any of the cakes and pastries because they are legendary. The experience was worth ever second you will spend there.

Edgars is easy to get to and lots of extra parking. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They have the drink stations behind the registers (not self-serve) so that can slow things down. Lots of seating, even for groups, and good outdoor seating if weather isn't too cold. Had a bacon, egg, cheese croissant which needed more salt believe it or not. Blueberry muffin was just okay. I was not overwhelmed by the food but it was fine and vibe was upbeat.

I've tried Edgar's a few times now for eat-in dining. The bakery is very nice but the dining experience leaves much to be desired. The atmosphere in the one in Madison is like a bus station. You are eating in a shop and it feels that way. The menu is interesting but the food is un-special and overpriced for what it is. My last experience was taking my niece for a light lunch. She ordered a soup/sandwich combo but wanted to add ham to the grilled cheese sandwich on the offer. This seemed a difficult request. After some back and forth with the kitchen and with little explanation, the clerk said, "We will have to ring this up differently but we can do it." Actually what they did was sell us two meals for my niece - twice as much at twice the cost. She was left one extra meal to take away. Not a substitution (and charge on that) but another entirely separate meal. Not good at all and not clearly explained except for a larger bill than expected. So for bakery ... great. For dining ... I won't be bothering again.

So it’s been some time since I’ve been back to any Edgar’s Bakery my previous experiences just not that great. This location was different because of the service. Rachel helped me and she was very pleasant. I ordered the handheld croissant ham egg and cheese and it was really good. I do wish the egg was seasoned with salt and not scrambled overhard but that could be my preference. Other than that great breakfast sandwich. But don’t take my word for it come try for yourself. Awesome location. Sara at the counter is super sweet. I enjoyed the food. Mac and cheese was a bit bland. But I would definitely come back. I love all of the natural light and the overall atmosphere. Food was fresh. It was $18 for my meal and I’d usually be complaining about the price right now but… I think I’d pay that again. Chicken was a tad chewy and dry but only on my very last 2 bites. :) The rest of the sandwich tastes fresh and juicy.
