Crema's Take

Provizyon Lakay brings authentic Haitian flavors to Indianapolis with standout dishes like lalo and goat stew that keep diners coming back, paired with generous portions of fried plantains and perfectly seasoned proteins. The spacious dining room and ample parking lot make it an ideal spot to linger with family or coworkers over leisurely meals, though service consistency could use some attention. It's a welcoming introduction to Haitian cuisine for first-timers and a reliable destination for those seeking something genuinely different from typical restaurant fare.

Took the family to this Haitian restaurant to celebrate on a Sunday afternoon. The outside has a big parking lot with plenty of parking. The inside is quite roomy with plenty of room to spread out. We were quickly seated and greated to get our drink orders. A few of us tried the passion fruit juice drink which comes in a rather large glass but was quite good. For an appetizer we ordered a few of the Haitian Pates which were amazing and each one was big enough for 2-4 people to share. For our meals, we ordered the chicken entree, pork entree and the turkey entree. Each entree came with a number of side items on the plate. I was amazed at how much food and how many items we received for the price we paid. The server was very friendly and attentive although we did have to chase her down for the bill which wasn't really a problem. Plan on having cash to tip because once she ran my card, she said she didn't have a way to add tip to the bill or the credit card slip. Maybe you can add it ahead of time, but I didn't think to ask before. Luckily our party had some cash to tip. We really enjoyed all of the food and will definitely be back soon.

Horrible. I wanted to try something new and so I decided to give this abomination of a restaurant a try and we told our server we had never been here before….The server told us to seat ourselves and so we did. The table clothes were stained on the first 6 tables/booths we tried to sit at but I digress. We looked over the menu and noticed they didn’t have any details about the items which is fine because I thought I could ask the server … boy was I wrong. We were never asked if we wanted anything to drink…I asked her what Acra was and she said it’s meat like beef that’s it. I had to ask was it fried, baked, was the meat in a pastry etc… she said it was put on dough. I sweat it was like pulling teeth to get her to actually describe the appetizer. So then I moved on to the main courses, I asked her what Lalo was and all she did was point to the other side of the menu to legumes… legumes was also on the same side of the menu as Lalo as dish #1. I thought that was odd that dish #1 was the same as dish # 10. Makes no sense at all…. So we finally decide what to eat my friend picked dish #7 and was asked what rice he wanted. He said white rice then the server said “we only have brown rice.” Then why in the world would you ask what rice he wanted? Y’all make it make sense. My turn came and I picked the oxtails… “we don’t have that” ok we’ll let me have Acra… “ we are out of that. “ ok I’ll take a shrimp dish… “ no” at this point I looked at my friend and said I can’t and we politely told her to cancel the order. She said “ oh you don’t want.” uhhh no we don’t want obviously. It had so much promise but fell flat on some many things. If I could give negative ratings I would. First impressions are everything.

First time eating Haitian food, and I was very pleased. My coworker and I shared the Mixed Vegetables meal and the Goat Stew. She got white rice, I got rice and beans, and we both got fried plaintains. was surprised to discover the mixed vegetable entree was mostly beef and had a crab perched on top but since neither of us are vegetarian, it did not bother us a bit. It was delicious, as was the goat stew. Both had a bit of spice, but it was flavorful, not overpowering. The slaw was a bit spicy for me, but she LOVED it. We will definitely be back!

We had the fried chicken and fried fish… absolutely delicious! The chicken was falling off the bones and the fish batter has some really nice flavor. This was our first time trying Haitian food and it did not disappoint. Definitely recommend!
