HG Higher Grounds Coffee and Cafe
354 N Country Club Dr, Mesa, AZ
Crema's Take
“This Mesa neighborhood gem punches well above its weight with expertly pulled espresso drinks and meticulous pour overs that draw folks from across town, all served by genuinely sweet baristas in a cozy, welcoming space. Beyond the coffee, they've got in-house baked goods and a surprisingly full breakfast menu that keeps it feeling like a local living room rather than a caffeine pit stop. The vibe is that rare combination of quick-service efficiency and slow-sit comfort where you can linger with a morning cigar or catch up with friends without feeling rushed.”

A great neighborhood - kind of coffee shop. Worth the drive even if you're a couple/few miles away. I get the iced mocha and it's a generous pour and extremely good. With my morning cigar, all is right with the world.
Such a gem! The staff are so sweet, the service is quick, and while the space is small, they do have indoor seating which is a nice bonus. The vibe is really good, cozy, welcoming, and the baristas are genuinely friendly, making you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. The pastry case is filled with tons of tempting bakery items, and it’s hard not to grab one every time you stop in. Drinks I Tried: Snickerdoodle Chai (Hot): Sweet but not too sweet — perfect if you want that fresh-baked cookie flavor without the calories of an actual cookie. The warmth really sells the “fresh from the oven” vibe. Iced Cold Brew: Amazing value! The medium (24 oz) is only $4, and they don’t overfill it with ice, so you actually get a full cup of coffee. The large (30 oz) is just $5 — which is wild when you think about paying more than that for a tall at Starbucks and getting way less coffee. Overall, Higher Grounds has great drinks, a cozy vibe, and baristas that make the experience even better. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick coffee or sitting down for a few minutes, it’s absolutely worth the visit.
Maybe an odd location, but this sweet little coffee shop is a gem! Great coffee and in house made baked goods as well as a full menu! I had an Americano (if they make a good Americano, any of their coffee drinks are sure to please) and it was great! I also tried the GF Carrot Cake and it was delicious! The service is great and with a smile!
I wouldn't order the Frenchman again. $10, and worse then a sandwich from Wendy's. The eggs must be cartoon, the bacon must be pre cooked. It came out fast, but too fast. A lot of places overcharge for poor quality, this just one just finally got me to post about it. I tried to eat it, and pick out the good parts, added salt, but it just wasn't good, especially at that price. Idk, try it for yourself I guess.
Decent coffee shop with lots of hearty breakfast options and pastries. We got the toast man sandwich and a cinnamon muffin, both were decent. I know inflation is a thing now, but there’s a part of me that still struggles to purchase a “just-okay” $12 breakfast sandwich. Lattes were decent as well with some pour over coffee options. Perhaps we were there on a day they happened to be short, but we had to wait a bit to put our order in on a Sunday morning with just one other couple ahead of us. So maybe don’t go if you’re in a rush. Having said that the baristas are kind and will make an effort to give you a positive experience. There is some seating, but the ambiance is less for hanging out all day and more for grabbing your coffee and breakfast before heading out for the day.
