The Concrete Jungle
13 Jefferson St, Brooklyn, NY
Crema's Take
“Tucked into the Myrtle-Broadway chaos of Brooklyn, this roastery doubles as a lush plant-filled sanctuary where the coffee expertise genuinely matches the serene vibes—regulars rave about baristas who transform simple milk into something revelatory, and the matcha here ranks among NYC's best. Beyond the exceptional espresso and pour-overs, it's the kind of comfy, oxygen-rich jungle escape where you can linger with your laptop, nibble a perfectly balanced apple-cardamom danish, and actually feel like you've left the city without going anywhere.”

Love this little coffee shop/roaster/plant store, it's an oasis in the chaos around Myrtle/Broadway. The coffee is absolutely top notch and the baristas are really knowledgeable. I often but beans to make coffee at home. They have several good vegan pastry options. It's a good place to work for a bit with good wifi—I especially like the swings!
Genuinely one of the best matcha I’ve had in NYC. The apple cardamom danish was delightful as well, not too sweet, nice and flaky, and a light treat. It’s also a great comfy spot to bring your laptop and get some work done. If it were closer, I would visit every single day 😭
My friend got an iced cappuccino that she wasn’t crazy about but I got a hot latte that changed the way I think about milk. Truly I have never been more blown away by the expertise of a barista the way I was by the kind barista here. Not sure the baristas name, and if I was to describe it might sound like all the baristas in Bushwick (no shade). White… curly hair… some fine line tattoos of plants maybe? But so so lovely. Okay what happened here was a foam situation that sent me to another dimension. It was unlike any foam I’ve had before. The foam on my latte was akin to a mousse, velvety and gelatinous almost. I will never stop thinking about this foam. I shared my feelings with the barista who demonstrated how such craft is achieved and writing I am just reminded of the foam. I am crying.
Loved this green space with good vibes. Escape the city and enter the jungle! One of my favorite things while traveling is trying to find a good coffee spot and this place definitely met the mark that we were repeat customers. Both times, baristas were very friendly and had great jams on. I had a lavender latte, vanilla latte, chocolate chip banana bread, and chocolate croissant from here. The flavoring was a little too subtle, but not necessarily a bad thing if that’s what you like. I like that there is a spot at the end of the bar to sweeten to your liking. Pastries were OK. The music could probably be a little quieter for those who are reading or doing work. I felt that the pricing was pretty average with what I would pay back home for a flavored latte. Overall, good experiences here!
This little jungle is a perfect getaway within Bushwick. You can practically feel the oxygen in your body rising with all the plants! I just had a simple coffee and my friend had an americano. Both were lovely; I look forward to trying the food next time and maybe bringing home a cute little plant.
