Danish Pastry House

205 Arlington St #4, Watertown, MA

Crema's Take

This Watertown spot is a genuine slice of Denmark, run by an actual Dane who crafts traditional pastries like kanelsnegl and princess torte with the kind of authenticity that keeps customers returning after years of searching for the real thing. The cozy, spa-like interior is perfect for lingering over coffee and one of their incredible fresh-baked creations, whether you're meeting a friend or celebrating a special occasion—they've even become a go-to for wedding cakes. Beyond the exceptional pastries, they nail the slow-coffee-shop vibe where you actually want to sit and stay awhile, making it feel less like a quick caffeine stop and more like stepping into a comfortable Nordic tradition.

The best sell I can give you on Danish Pastry House is that we ordered wayyyy more than enough cake for our wedding guests (3 flavors and enough to feed about twice as many guests as we had) and it was ALL gone at the end of the night. People were coming up to us saying they tried all three flavors because it was so delicious! They did such a good job, the cake was amazing, and the flavors are so much more unique and interesting than the basic “vanilla” and “chocolate” that most bakeries offer for their wedding cake flavors. We went with black forest, Swedish princess, and passionfruit, but everything we tried from the bakery during the tasting was awesome. They also worked with me in advance to use dried flowers I sourced to decorate the cake. It turned out even better than I could have hoped for! Everything was delivered on time and was just perfect. I’d highly recommend Danish Pastry House to anyone looking for a unique, delicious, and affordable wedding cake option! I think they were by far one of the best bang-for-our-buck wedding vendors, and we’re so thankful to them!

We have been searching for a marzipan cake for a couple of years now and finally found one at Danish Pastry House. We ordered the Princess Torte and were not disappointed. The marzipan is the best we have ever tasted. When picking up the cake, we could not resist buying several of the other pastries (including the mayor snail) just to try, and they did not disappoint. We will be returning to try more of their wonderful pastries.

Amazing authentic Danish pastries made by a Dane! 🇩🇰 If you want to try something new & traditionally Danish, I recommend trying a kanelsnegl (like a delicious cross between a croissant and a cinnamon roll) or flødebolle (like chocolate covered marshmallow fluff), but honestly everything we tried was wonderful. The coffee is also great.

Took out a few fresh-baked pastry as my casual brunch. Definitely one of the best pastry shop around this neighborhood with great amounts of pastry options and carefully designed menu. Cozy indoor space is perfect for a coffee or person study time.
