Crema's Take

Sideboard is a beloved neighborhood gathering spot where the real magic happens in the atmosphere rather than just the cup—reviewers rave about the warm, welcoming vibes both inside and on the sprawling veranda, making it the perfect post-walk destination after Lafayette Reservoir. Their house-made pastries (French morning muffins, blackberry lemon varieties) and thoughtful food menu compete for attention with an genuinely excellent hot chocolate that keeps regulars coming back, even if the sandwiches sometimes play second fiddle to the cozy, rough-around-the-edges charm of the space itself.

My favorite cafe! Their hot chocolate is absolutely delicious, and I love coming here after a walk at Lafayette Reservoir.

Went with Friends for lunch. Busy busy place. Crowded. Food was average. Got a chicken salad sandwich, with house chips . Dry and chips were nothing special not with almost $20. Staff was attentive and welcoming. Lots of untensils and condiments to use. Cool tables to sit. Perhaps I'll try something different if I ever return. Parking is a hassle . You will have to walk or pay for parking one way or the other.

It's a great local cozy cafe with good variety of dishes and sandwiches. Indoor and outdoor seating. Foods are OK but the atmosphere is great with large wide area inside and on the porch. Good selection of coffee/tea drinks and salads. Service is semi self service. Great place for groups to play board games, casual gatherings and meetups. Hard accessible with steps. Plenty of parking around in free parking lot opposite street.

Lafayette is just getting more interesting! This place is a bakery/sando place with that old rough look and great veranda seating. Pastries such as a French morning muffin, a blackberry, lemon muffin, lemon, lavender tea, cake, carrot, cake, blueberry cheesecake, even the peanut butter sandwich cookie just looks so amazing! For $47.35 I picked up a chicken lasagna to take and bake later on, a coffee and some house made tortilla chips. Yummo baby!

Our first time at Sideboard in Lafayette was fantastic! The hamburger was incredibly delicious, and the veggie burger was also a great option. The ambience is so warm and welcoming—it really feels like home. Ikaria helped us to order food and answered all of our questions positively and patiently. The food was excellent, and we’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommend.
