The Optimist
4509 Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh, NC
Crema's Take
“This Raleigh spot brings serious charm to an unlikely business park location, with lush plants and a genuinely lively atmosphere that keeps people coming back for dates, meetings, and solo work sessions alike. While their standard lattes are solid rather than spectacular, they shine with creative seasonal offerings like the Palm Reader and thoughtful specialty drinks, plus a knowledgeable team working with quality Black and White beans. It's the kind of place where the cozy vibe and welcoming staff matter just as much as what's in your cup.”

I’ve been to the Optimist many times - it’s probably my most frequented coffee shop. Their lattes are good, not mind blowing, but good. I’m leaving this review because the food has gone downhill. The BBE sandwich was pretty sad compared to food I’ve gotten here in the past. This specific sandwich was the “new and improved” version of the sandwich I’d always get in the past which was much better. I could make this at home. I added bacon and there was barely any. Staff is super kind as always - I’ve never met someone I didn’t like here.
This cafe was so delightful. The tea was delicious and the decor was cute. The staff was kind and helpful. This is a cozy place to come for a date or meet up with a group. There is plenty of outdoor seating too.
Great coffee with a cozy vibe. It's in a business park, but still feels lively with a lot of plants! They use Black and White beans, and the baristas know their stuff! Good place to meet up or work from home! Very clean! Nice bathrooms with changing tables. Espresso drinks are my favorite! Food prices are a little high, but they are quality and tasty!
I met a friend here for an early morning coffee when they opened at 7am and there was a line out the door! The ambiance in here was great and I was excited to try it. The coffee/espresso was not great to be honest. It was fine but there is better coffee in Raleigh. Come here for the atmosphere! Great for a meeting, date, or wfh
Pretty cafe and nice menu items. I had a Palm Reader (tea steamer with coconut oolong tea and ginger syrup) from their seasonal drinks menu, which was quite flavorful and refreshing. I enjoyed it alongside a croissant, which was decent but would have tasted better if it was warmed. The only downside was that they were out of snacks (except that one croissant) at the time of my visit (Saturday afternoon around 3 pm).
