Crema's Take

Dark Horse Coffee Roasters roasts with a bright, fruity hand that brings out the complexity in medium roasts, whether you're ordering a traditional espresso or diving into their creative specialty drinks like the beloved haupia cold foam. The spacious, airy roastery doubles as a gathering spot with both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a charming attached shop where you can browse local Hawaiian goods while sipping your pour over, making it as much a cultural experience as a caffeine stop. Whether you're settling in for a leisurely breakfast with their fresh bagels and egg sandwiches or quick meeting with matcha in hand, the relaxed vibe and reasonable prices make it worth the drive across Kauai.

Great space with large open ceilings, nice espresso machine and courteous staff. The coffee options here tend to be fruity and bright, teetering on acidic with medium roasts (last 2 drinks I had), looking forward to trying a new batch in the future. Micro roaster is worth checking out if you're in the area.

Haupia cold foam is delicious and dairy free. Matcha was great too. Modern and updated shop. Has a cute store attached to it that sells local Hawaiian clothes, jewelry, perfume etc.

Nice coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating, spacious and has a very relaxing atmosphere. Coffee is good, they have a few breakfast items, including bagels if you want to go simple. There's a gift store inside the building and they also sell their roast.

I had high expectations after reading reviews about the friendly staff, but I didn’t find them particularly welcoming. The food wasn’t memorable, but considering the reasonable prices, it wasn’t bad. The space is spacious, and the outdoor area is especially nice, so it might be a good spot to enjoy coffee outside. Also, it seems like they have a small exhibition of artworks by local artists inside the café, so keep that in mind.

We came twice, totally worth the drive! Best tasting coffee, really soft bagels, egg sandwiches were fresh and delicious. Cute little shopping island for stickers, Tshirts, beach towels if you forgot yours or want to grab one to use as a cool Momento of your travels. Space was so comfortable, spacious, really clean and lots of seating. Great bathrooms as well! We sat and ate and it was a great way to start the day!
