The Tilted Windmill - An Eclectic Cafe
302 S St Charles St, College Station, TX
Crema's Take
“Tucked into College Station, this eclectic spot celebrates the quirky side of coffee culture with a playful, nerdy menu full of punny drink names and an impressive selection of loose leaf teas that actually knows what it's doing. The genuinely welcoming vibe—complete with board games and books scattered throughout—makes it feel less like a café and more like a creative hangout where you're encouraged to linger, whether you're settling in with a warm double chocolate muffin or meeting friends for hours. Just note that service can be inconsistent, but when it clicks, the combination of great pastries, solid coffee, and that wonderfully adorable, creative atmosphere makes it worth the visit.”

We were in town for errands and stopped by this cute little coffee shop for brunch. We have never been here before and we’re excited to try something new. The atmosphere is adorable, I love the eclectic feel and wish more places kept the same old, downtown charm that this place has. Unfortunately, from the very get go the staff seemed like they were having the worst day. The water container was empty and when we mentioned it to them they sighed and said “of course it is”. Not one person even had a smile and when we left we were the ones to say “thank you, have a good day” to which they never said anything back except instructed us to use another door to leave out of. We thought maybe everyone was just having a bad day, or that they were short staffed since it took 30+ minutes for our small orders. But after seeing the previous reviews regarding their poor attitudes, seems that this is just the standard they run a business by. Honestly the wait wouldn’t have bothered us, as the food was good. But the obvious rude personalities just kind of ruined it for us—we won’t be returning.
The place is cute inside but as soon as you order the staff is really weird and not friendly. They don’t know the teas on the menu. And the food took a while to come out for it being a sandwich and a side salad. The salad was some lettuce and a few strawberry pieces on top with a balsamic vinegar which is fine but the lettuce honestly tasted like it wasn’t washed.
Very cute atmosphere. The menu is full of fun, nerdy, punny names. Good food. Great tea. Reading and game playing encouraged with books and games available for use during your visit. Service: affectless bordering on rude. Slow as you know what. Ignored by staff often even standing right in front of her. For a walk up to the counter to order place, putting in orders took too long. Unfortunately won't waste my time there again because of the staff. Get it together. You have such potential!!
This is a wonderful place with great food, baked goods (the double chocolate muffin was warm and soo good), excellent coffee along with an amazing variety of loose leaf teas, roasted coffee beans plus balsamic vinegar, seasonings, seasoned salt, and sugar. There is a lot of room / places to sit, which is always nice. I’m already looking forward to coming back.
I wanted to try this place out because it looked so cool and I am so glad we did. The place is beautiful, all the teas and the style I loved. There is plenty of seating inside and there is also outside seating for nice weather which we had the chance to do. We ordered and the food and drinks came out quickly, the attendants and servers were super nice. The food was delicious, full of flavor and fresh. We truly enjoyed it all! Definitely will return.
