Blue Dot Cafe & Coffee Bar
1910 Encinal Ave, Alameda, CA
Crema's Take
“Blue Dot Cafe & Coffee Bar draws a devoted crowd to Alameda with its thoughtfully sourced espresso drinks and exceptional housemade pastries, especially their renowned scones and banana bread. The laid-back, locally-rooted vibe welcomes laptop workers and families alike, though the experience hinges on catching the place on a good day—the coffee and fresh breakfast menu shine when the energy is right. Their rotating daily specials and commitment to quality ingredients make it worth seeking out, even if consistency with service can be a bit uneven.”

I’m done with this place. Yes, the food is good. That’s literally the only reason I kept coming back for years. But the owner, who also works here, is consistently rude, dismissive, and acts like customers are an inconvenience. The attitude is nasty, the social skills are nonexistent, and it ruins the entire experience. And for what? The food and drinks are overpriced for this area, so you’d expect at least basic respect and decent service. Instead you get treated like you should be grateful they’re taking your money. What really sealed it for me was overhearing another customer complaining about the same terrible treatment from the owner. So it’s not a bad day, it’s a pattern. After being a loyal customer for 10 years, I won’t be back. If you care about being treated like a human being, spend your money somewhere that actually values customers.
they should definitely stop selling coffee. literally selling hot black water as coffee. but the atmosphere and banana bread is 10/10.
Cosy friendly cafe with the best coffee I've had anywhere in the Bay Area. Very laid back relaxed atmosphere. I felt welcomed in a quiet and accepting way. Fresh delicious food. Not only kid friendly, but dog friendly and people friendly. My kind of place.
New update 02/07/24 Loved to have bfast or lunch here. They have daily special menu. Their scones are to die for. Not cheap but good food Very fresh healthy food. Lots of good baked goods. Good place to dine
What a cute cafe! I really enjoyed the local vibe here. Everyone is asked to bus their own tables, and the drinks were very good. I ordered an Americano. I would say that the breakfasts are not exactly worth the cost. We ordered an egg, toast, and sausage breakfast and that was something easily made at home for like 1/10 the cost lol. I'd come here to hangout and get drinks though!
