Dogwood Coffee
2700 University Ave W, Saint Paul, MN
Crema's Take
“This Saint Paul neighborhood gem strikes the perfect balance between serious espresso craftsmanship and laid-back comfort, with thoughtfully curated specialty drinks like rotating chai tea options that go beyond the typical coffee shop menu. The vibe is genuinely welcoming—think privacy booths for focused work, dog-friendly seating, and music that hits just right—making it equally suited for solo laptop sessions, business meetings, or a casual hang with friends and their pups. While their single-origin beans come at a premium, regulars rave about the quality and the consistently excellent service that keeps them coming back.”

My review is for the University/Emerald location in St. Paul (I noticed other locations have also been reviewed here). This is my neighborhood coffee shop and I’m glad it’s here. Parking is on street, but you can also park in the bank lot next door (there is signage for Dogwood Coffee patrons). The space is really lovely and inviting with semi-private booths, table/chairs and couch-style seating. There is also patio seating during the warmer months. I love to meet up with friends here. Service is always friendly and patient (especially when I am trying to decide on which pastry to try!). I’m a chai kind of gal versus coffee. Their Red Wolf chai latte does not disappoint!
First visit to dogwood coffee in St. Paul for a business meeting, but it definitely won't be the last. They have very good coffee, and today they had three different unique chai tea options available, too. I tried two of the chai teas and both were delicious, as well as a vanilla latte which was also very good. They had a food case with items such as a chocolate croissant, banana bread, and other items, but I didn't try any of the items even though they looked great! There is comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere with lots of natural light from the windows that surround the most of the space. I highly recommend giving dogwood coffee a try.
We've been a Dogwood fan since the beginning but haven't been back to the Cities often enough. Excellent coffees got an Ethiopian single origin to take home...pricey but one of top 5 coffee beans I've had. The proper cup sizes for each drink is very nice too. The location decor is awesome. We grabbed a booth and visited with friends for a couple hours amd moved on. Great location for that.
Absolutely awesome chill coffee shop! The service is excellent, music vibes are 💯, and there are privacy booths with charger connects. A must for the vibin' Coffeetto!
Excellent atmosphere. Friendly staff. Vegan and caffeine-free options. This cafe is outstanding with local goods and drinks, a beautiful layout, and it was immaculately clean despite being busy. It's very quiet considering how bustling it was. There was a group having a meeting, individuals studying or working remotely, couples relaxing and a variety of different people coming through. It has a comfy vibe despite a sort of industrial earthy aesthetic with lots of room between customers. I have heard they host an autism friendly meetup group and I think it would make a great environment for it.
