Crema's Take
“Bakery by Textbook is a beloved Bed-Stuy institution where owner Sean and his genuinely warm team pour real care into both their coffee and pastries, making it the kind of place where regulars become friends. Their twice-baked pistachio croissant is legendary, and the free drip coffee refills paired with a cozy, community-focused atmosphere make it perfect for lingering over conversation or settling in for the afternoon. There's even a charming speakeasy downstairs if you want to deepen the experience, though honestly the main floor's infectious energy and quality baked goods are plenty reason to become a regular.”

My favorite coffee shop, community focused, fun, and friendly! The owner Sean is literally the nicest person; everybody that works there puts love in the food, I’m so grateful for them! Free drip refill when you buy a coffee, fresh sandwiches and pastries! Speakeasy
Amazing twice baked pistachio croissant. Probably the best in the city. Good coffee and they offer free refill on drip coffee. Friendly service.
I tried to give this bakery a chance a few times since it’s the only one in the area. But every single time I get bread from here it’s never baked right. It’s either burnt, undercooked or dense. And this happens whenever I come once every few months. It’s very disappointing they never improved on the quality. Although the owner did apologize and refund the money I don’t think that resolves the issue. I’m writing this review so other customers like me can be aware that even though the bread they offer can be purchased for free it’s not worth it if the quality stays at this level.
Wonderful neighborhood gem! I love this bakery, it's sandwiches and especially Chef D'Troit's excellent pizza. The place is a lot of fun. The speakeasy downstairs is uber cute and romantic, and I really enjoy the time I've spent there — whether it was for the weekend BBQs or just to do some writing on a laptop while sipping coffee. Great spot!
I went to this cafe with a friend where I ordered an iced latte accompanied by a gluten-free brownie. The brownie was decadent and rich, definitely a highlight of the visit. I got an iced vanilla latte with oat which was good as well. My friend opted for a hot chocolate paired with a savory sandwich, and he thoroughly enjoyed both. The hot chocolate was creamy and indulgent, while the sandwich was fresh and satisfying, making for a delightful meal overall. They have a bathroom, wifi and its spacious with seating.
