Crema's Take
“Banjo Coffee is a beloved neighborhood gem where the staff genuinely knows regulars by name and craft exceptional espresso drinks like perfectly balanced cortados and specialty iced chais alongside locally-made pastries and hearty breakfast options. The vibe strikes that rare balance between a quick caffeine stop and a cozy gathering spot where you'll want to linger, with warm hospitality that keeps customers coming back multiple times a day. It's the kind of place that feels like it exists for the community rather than just at it.”

Banjo is the cutest little coffee shop in Avondale Estates! Their staff is always so personal and kind and really love getting to know their customers. Their menu not only includes delicious coffee but also amazing foods- my favorite being their classic breakfast burrito, which I could eat any time of day. While their inside space has limited seating, on a beautiful day, their outside patio is the place to be. Thankful for local shops like Banjo. 💛
These lovely beings provide such a chill atmosphere for the neighborhood. Looking forward to millennial karaoke ;) The cortado with a splash of oat milk is my favorite, but it was fun to add in chocolate cherry when I was there the other day. The first sip straight up tasted like drinking a thick hot chocolate with dark cherry undertones... not sweet but more like dark chocolate cherry bitter, yum. I also order the biscuit with egg, chz, and veggie sausage OR the burrito with veggie sausage, no chz, no beans &aoli on the side, often.. can't go wrong! Oh! And the pastries are also Divine!
Over the last three days, we probably hit this coffee shop more than eight times since it was the closest spot to our training. Every single time I ordered the same drink—a cortado—sometimes hot, sometimes iced. And every time, it was spot-on: perfect consistency, rich flavor, not drowned in milk. When I asked for an iced cortado, they made it without hesitation, no pushback at all. In other places, I’ve had baristas try to swap it for an iced flat white or cappuccino, but here they just did exactly what I asked for, which I really appreciated. Can’t say anything about the food since we didn’t order any pastries or meals, but the staff was super friendly, polite, and easy to talk to. They even remembered names, which was a nice touch. The vibe overall was great—chill spot to sit down, read, work, or just hang out with friends. It’s definitely not a grab-and-go type place. You can actually slow down and enjoy your coffee in a really nice atmosphere.
I love this spot! I’ve gotten the avocado toast with eggs (huge portion, maybe split?) and I’ve also gotten the breakfast burrito before. My favorite drink is the iced chai latte and I love the iced vanilla latte too. The baristas are always so friendly, and the ambience is great! There’s outdoor seating too. It is on the pricier side but it’s a good ethical cafe.
Best veggie sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit I’ve had anywhere! All the coffee and tea drinks are top tier. The pastries are all locally made or made in store. They are so delicious! Literally everything is good here. The staff is friendly and helpful. The perfect coffee shop.
