Turbo Coffee
2010 8th St, Tuscaloosa, AL
Crema's Take
“Turbo Coffee has built a devoted following in Tuscaloosa thanks to standout baristas like Luke and Sarah who create a genuinely welcoming vibe—reviewers rave about the friendly service and remarkably quiet atmosphere despite being packed with students. While coffee quality gets mixed reviews (some find it excellent, others wish the espresso had more depth for the price), what keeps people returning is the whole experience: a bustling spot perfect for studying or meeting friends, paired with solid pastries and a good variety of specialty drinks. Head there on a regular day rather than game day to snag a seat and soak in what locals consider one of the town's better coffee shops.”

Coffee so mid for the expensive price. It's not sweet enough and the espresso taste like it's bad quality or not brewed right. Not worth stopping in.
Stopped in on a very chilly and windy Saturday. This spot was bustling! It is very quiet, regardless of how many people are there. There was one two top open, that’s all! The barista is amazing!! (formerly with UPerk Coffe and a true gem🤩). My daughter and I enjoyed a hot latte and my hubby enjoyed a latte and a blueberry muffin, warmed. I highly recommend Turbo Coffee.
I love Turbo's coffee, but what has kept me coming back is the service and environment. The baristas (especially Luke and Sarah) are so friendly and do an excellent job. The environment, however, has gone drastically downhill over the summer. Like another review said, this used to be a genuine third space in Tuscaloosa. I always saw people I knew and loved things like the art events in the evening. Lately though, it's become just another spot for football iconography. The local artist features are gone, and two huge TVs broadcast ESPN. The vibe is completely gone and so is the homey, community-driven character that made Turbo so beloved in town.
On a regular day, expect a solid 8/10 coffee and a buzzy atmosphere with lots of students. Definitely one of the better coffee shops in town! When it's good, it's great. Don't go on a game day unless you are looking for a DJ or cheerleaders or anything of that sort. Nothing wrong with it just not what I expected! I've had great coffees many times here, but because I know how good it can be, I am often left disappointed. Most recently, it took 2 attempts to get what was a half correct order (hot latte with honey) and honestly that's just not what I'm looking for when I'm going out for coffee.
Super great coffee shop! Great atmosphere with a very large variety for drinks and other snacks. The bagel I had was fantastic. Very friendly staff as well!
