Crema's Take

Fred's Place is a beloved Sausalito breakfast spot where generous portions and quick-turning kitchen work mean your eggs Benedict and crispy hash browns arrive piping hot and full of flavor. The sunny outdoor seating and welcoming vibe make it perfect for lingering over coffee with friends, though expect a short weekend wait—but you'll be seated within 15 minutes. What keeps people coming back is the combination of classic diner excellence, fresh-squeezed OJ, and staff that genuinely seem to care about getting your order right.

An all-around phenomenal experience. I had the Mexican burger with a veggie patty, and it was absolutely delicious. The portions are very generous, and the service was extremely accommodating. My dad used to rave about this place from when he visited in the 1970s, and it clearly has not lost its magic.

Great scramble eggs, Classic eggs Benedict and hash browns! I finished everything immediately because it came out quick and piping hot. And the flavor just boosted my appetite.

Good food, good portions, good price. Hit the spot if you're looking for a breakfast diner. There was a wait outside on a weekend at noon but all the parties were seat within 15 minutes. Food arrived super fast. Would recommend and visit again.

Here’s the deal: we decided to try this place for something new. Our normal breakfast place is Salt and Pepper in Tiburon. The bottom line: this place is mid and Salt and Pepper is the best breakfast in Marin. We ordered: the sweet bacon, Swedish pancakes, and scrambled eggs with chorizo and onion. Pancakes: ok- lacked flavor and the maple syrup on the table tasted like those fake syrups. Eggs: not great- chorizo and onion were in huge chunks- the preparation lacked attention to detail and was messy. I asked what other toppings we could add to the eggs and was told they don’t do that here. This dish was $25. See photo. Bacon: nice flavor but very chewy and not crispy. $10 for two pieces of bacon is absurd. All in all, we will not return and we’re VERY disappointed. The service was unfriendly and rushed. Skip this place. It’s no good.

Easily the best eggs Benedict I have had in my entire life, the sweet bacon is to die for and you can't go wrong with the waffles either and I can't get over how fresh the OJ was. Perfect and cozy breakfast spot!
