Crema's Take
“Tucked into downtown Birmingham, this spot has mastered the art of making you feel like a regular the moment you walk in—the baristas genuinely remember names and drink orders, which says everything about the care they pour into their work. Whether you're after a meticulously executed flat white, a creative specialty drink, or a perfectly steeped pour over, the espresso-focused menu delivers excellence without the pretension, and the pastry selection makes lingering over your coffee a natural decision.”

Love Cala Downtown… great coffee and pastries, but the best thing is people who work there. Always super friendly and remember our names and what drinks we get. My 9 yo son said “Cala is my favorite cause the people there always talk to me and they have the best tacos”. Go say hi and grab a Cortado… you won’t regret it. Morning crew ftw!
Visiting from Orlando and found the cutest coffee shop downtown! The baristas are all so friendly and welcoming, they helped me pick out the perfect tea for my sweet tooth. You won’t regret stopping here for a coffee tea, and a snack!
I love coffee and the coffee here is excellent. I came in today for the first time and ordered my usual drink to test a new coffee shop—a flat white. This drink takes a little finesse to really execute well. Many places basically give you a small latte. Not here! They executed it with aplomb! I’d also like to call out Caitlin and Hailey, who were the two baristas with whom I interacted. They made me feel warmly welcomed the moment I walked in. They were friendly and professional and, of course, excellent baristas.
came in to try this shop from out of town and it was an 11/10 experience. we had a bigger group and the baristas(austin and the barista making drinks but didn’t get her name!) were personable and efficient in getting drinks out quickly without giving rushed vibes. the drinks were delicious and house made syrups are always our favorite to look for when trying new shops when traveling. would highly recommend this spot!
My son recommended this spot to meet. There is sufficient parking on both sides of the street, in addition to the parking lot right beside the coffee shop. However, please note that this parking lot is a PAID parking lot 24/7. There are signs saying as much, but wanted to reiterate it as it could be an expensive lesson to learn. I arrived at the coffee shop about 9am when there was only one other customer there. As the morning progressed, it became quite busy, with most of the seating taken. I typically get the dark roast drip but they only had light or medium today. Their medium roast was still delicious. Lots of students and folks with their dogs stopping in. The vibe here is great. Perfect place to catch up with a friend or get some work done.
