Deja Brew Coffee House

5001 Falls Of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC

Crema's Take

Deja Brew has carved out a loyal following in Raleigh with creative seasonal drinks like their balanced caramel maple latte and a standout chai that keeps regulars coming back, especially through the convenient drive-thru. The staff—particularly known for their warm, personalized service—make this spot feel like a genuine community gathering place, though the menu execution can be a bit inconsistent between what's advertised and what lands in your cup. It's the kind of neighborhood coffee house that works equally well for a quick caffeine grab or a leisurely visit with plenty of seating and surprising variety beyond coffee, from ice cream to milkshakes.

We came here during the first snow storm this winter (we walked in the snow and were so happy to see it was open!). It was my first time. I tried their caramel maple latte and it wasn’t too sweet and by itself I didn’t enjoy the flavor too much, but I loved it with the delicious coffee cake (so glad I was able to grab the last one!). Service was interesting - although I tremendously appreciate that they were open in the snowstorm, the worker (also the owner?) was cleaning the shop which is awesome but she left us waiting quite a while before we could order (we were the only ones there), and then when the next customer came in he also had to wait a good 10 mins or so. Can’t comment on if the service is like this on regular days when there isn’t a snowstorm since I haven’t visited since. I would come back again and try another drink and have some more coffee cake. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. There’s an outdoor seating area which I’d love to try next time.

The menu in person doesn't match what's online so it was a bit confusing. The drinks weren't bad, but they didn't taste much like what I ordered. The white mocha was sweet but didn't taste like a white mocha, and the seasonal peppermint bark had barely a hint of mint. The iced drinks we ordered were also really warm when we got them as if the milk wasn't chilled and the pellets of ice are insufficient too cool the drink so it was lukewarm at best.

Deja Brew is one of our Saturday staples - we grab breakfast sandwiches from Morning Rolls across the parking lot and then swing through the drive thru for coffee and chai. The chai is amongst my favorites - better than Starbucks! A little more spiced and their nugget ice rocks. We love it!

Deja Brew is hands-down one of the best coffee spots in NC, and a big part of that is thanks to Kiki! Every time I come in, she makes the experience feel personal and welcoming. Her customer service is absolutely top-tier—she remembers faces, greets you with genuine warmth, and goes above and beyond to make sure your drink is exactly the way you like it. The atmosphere at Deja Brew is already cozy and inviting, but Kiki takes it to another level. She’s quick, attentive, and has this positive energy that makes you want to come back again and again. It’s rare to find someone who truly elevates a place just by being there, but Kiki does exactly that. If you’re in NC and haven’t stopped by Deja Brew yet, you’re missing out. Great coffee, great vibes, and superior customer service thanks to Kiki!

Came here intrigued by the different flavor options. It was a cute little shop with lots of seating. There were a lot more options beyond coffee including teas, milkshakes, ice cream, etc. Since it was a hot day I opted for the Honey Cream Cold Brew. It wasn't very busy but it took quite a while to get my drink. Not too big of a deal since I wasn't in a hurry. However when I finally got my drink I was soooo disappointed. I guess my first mistake was thinking it would be a regular cold brew with honey cream cold foam or something on top. No it was a premixed liquid coffee so no rich color or layers to it. And then the taste was even more disappointing. It tasted like a watered down McDonald's iced coffee. No rich taste of cold brew and very muted honey taste that had more of a sickly sweet sugar flavor than anything. If you've had the liquid sugar in a coffee before you know exactly what I am talking about. It is so overly sweet it's almost unpalatable. But considering I paid over $7 for it I'm forcing myself to drink it. The quality is so bad I can't ever see myself coming back and risking getting another terrible coffee.
