Boston Stoker Coffee

1101 W 1st Ave, Grandview Heights, OH

Crema's Take

This Grandview Heights spot strikes a nice balance between approachable classics and serious coffee craft, offering everything from traditional espresso drinks to single-origin pour overs alongside matcha and light food. While the coffee quality itself earns consistent praise—customers rave about delicious brews and the shop's impressive bean selection—the experience can be uneven, with some visits featuring genuinely warm service and others marred by inattentive baristas or order mishaps. On your good days here, you'll find exactly what a neighborhood coffee shop should be: knowledgeable about what they're brewing and genuinely glad you stopped by.

Our coffee was delicious as always. The woman who took our order was very kind and pleasant as well. Sadly, the barista who made our lattes was quite dismissive when we mentioned that we were given the wrong size drink, arguing that the order was not rang up that way. The woman who had taken our order immediately apologized, and we were happy to leave with our corrected order. However, the barista emphasized very sarcastically when announcing that our new drink was ready (to the point where surrounding customers also noticed and laughed in surprise). She also ignored us when we thanked her and wished her a nice rest of her day. Our overall experience is unfortunate as we used to be happy and frequent visitors.

I ordered a coffee that in the description says it comes with whipped cream and cookie crumbles on top. And then I was waiting and the barista set a coffee down, but it didn’t have whipped cream or cookie crumble on top so I didn’t think it was mine and then she was like that’s yours and I was like oh are you guys out of the whipped cream and cookie crumbles? She’s like no I didn’t know you wanted it, even though i never said i didn’t want it. She then took the coffee back and put the smallest whip cream on it & still no cookie crumbles. Paid $7.50 for a specialty coffee with nothing special to it and rude services

If I could give them a zero I would. They charged me over $4 for a sample cup I was shocked and could not return this disaster disgusting testing coffee I buy from Starbucks which consider an expensive coffee for a bigger cup than this. This is a scam And we never go back there again. The person working there never told me this small cup of coffee cost this much and he still trying to convince me that they get the coffee from Talking about and never said this is how big the cup is, loud music, does not taste good at all and it’s too expensive. I never seen a coffee shop this expensive for such a small amount of coffee. Finally, the place it’s disgusting not clean and the couches are ripped. I couldn’t sit inside to do any of my work.

Food is terrible, I got the egg sandwich. The egg was a gross texture, the cream cheese was fine, the sausage was freshly microwaved from frozen, and the bagel was a brick. I placed an online order and arrived 20 minutes later which is when it said it would be ready. When I came in they hadn’t even seen the ticket yet (they were not very busy). Took 15 minutes to get my coffee and sandwich once I was already there. Coffee was fine overall. You can get better food and coffee for 6 bucks about a mile away at dunkin, and that isn’t a very high bar.

A great balance of a local coffee shop with typical favorites that can also cater to the specialty coffee crowd with single origin pour overs. Friendly local baristas, lots of beans (Boston Stoker classics and Luck Bros, the former shop) and tons of brewing merch. Comfy seating. Old school shop and roaster/cigar shop out of Dayton. A classic.
