Crema's Take

Magic Bean thrives as Springfield's creative hub, where local songwriters and poets regularly take the stage for intimate performances in front of a genuinely welcoming crowd. The owner runs a tight ship with espresso-focused drinks and an unapologetically blunt personality that regulars celebrate as authenticity rather than coldness, creating a space where students and artists naturally linger for hours. It's the kind of place where you'll stumble into unexpected live music while nursing a thoughtfully pulled shot, surrounded by people who actually want to be there.

Between the friendly staff and the chill environment, you'll be sure to enjoy a good cup of coffee with good people. Songwriters occasionally come in to perform, and with it so close to campus, it's a mighty convenient place to go, so give it a shot, and enjoy what you bought!!!

This is a great place for open mic 🎤 there is a creative and open crowd of all ages that share a ton of different talents like poetry and music. The owner has only been warm and welcoming to me and keeps the cofee prices low. I go once a week for their mic night events and i have so much fun 😁

Came at 5:13pm and the door was locked. Owner came to the door and asked me if I needed help??? When I got inside he was rude and off-putting about my not having cash. I would have gone to the atm and come back with cash if not for how bizarrely the owner acted. Smells bizarre in there also, like mice perhaps.

Fantastic atmosphere that you can't get anywhere else. I saw a few reviews that said the owner is rude? No, absolutely not. He might come off as blunt or short, but there's no ill manner or intention behind any of it. He's really chill. Just don't be a Ken/Karen. I have preformed at the open mic nights, and despite my strange appearance and stranger performances, I have received zero judgement, and plenty of encouragement and positive feedback. It's also a great place for neurodivergents. Rarely gets loud, always dimmer lighting, and people snap for applause instead of clap. Please support your local businesses.

This is the best coffee shop in Missouri. They have the best coffee, atmosphere, and customer service I’ve ever experienced. They are so kind and attentive to customers needs and this is the cutest, nicest, cleanest place ever. I cannot recommend them enough.
