Crema's Take
“The Coffee Lama's biggest draw is its bright, sunlit corner space across from Buena Vista Park—perfect for a long sit with consistently solid espresso-based drinks, though service temperatures can be inconsistent and the digital menu boards feel out of place in an otherwise pleasant neighborhood spot. You'll find a quiet, welcoming vibe here on slower afternoons with friendly baristas, but avoid peak hours when crowds make the experience less appealing. If you're in the Haight and want a reliable coffee destination with good bones and decent pastries, it's worth trying, just manage expectations around execution.”
What to expect
Espresso-focused, with a pour-over program, good cold brew. A slow-sit, laptop-friendly spot, good for meetings. Pastries on the menu. Parking available.

See all on Google →They took over the space from ritual and serve their coffee; but they stuck screen menus in there which look awful, and lost even more of the already lacking atmosphere. If it was a nice and pretty coffee shop to hang out at; all the neighbors would be there daily getting…
Not gonna lie, this place missed the mark on pretty much everything. Coffee came out barely warm – like, I ordered a hot drip, not lukewarm drip, you know? The restroom situation was rough. Honestly couldn’t tell if I walked into a bathroom or a storage closet that someone gave…
A nice quiet and chill place to be on a rainy day. The vibe was super nice got to hear some old classics. The barista was nice and he greeted and chatted with us while he made the coffee. I got a Gibraltar (5.50$) which was perfectly balanced. My partner got a latte(7$+1$ for…
First time writing a review. Just moved to the neighborhood and already found my spot. Been coming here for a couple weeks now and the coffee always hits. Swung by pretty late this evening around closing and Sean still made my drink. I was here this past Monday too, and even…
Gorgeous, crisp, clean store filled with sunlight from the enormous windows. Great logo. Loved seeing the menu before entering. And really appreciated the decaf iced coffee. Robust merch selection. Lots of pastry variety. Good place to chill and enjoy a great coffee!
Great little coffee shop if you’re in the area. It’s kitty corner from Buena Vista Park and right in between Upper and Lower Haight. It can get crowded so I usually try to go odd hours so that I don’t have to wait long. Coffee is great and they have some cool SF merch too.
