Crema's Take
“Bakey in Newton is a relaxing neighborhood gem that excels at what it does best: fresh-baked Eastern European pastries like babka and burekas paired with quality coffee and made-to-order juices. The calm, welcoming atmosphere with real flowers on the tables makes it perfect for lingering over breakfast or meeting a friend, and the friendly staff genuinely care about the experience. Whether you're craving something sweet like their rich chocolate-apple babka or savory like their celebrated goat cheese croissant, this is the kind of place where everything tastes like it was made this morning—because it probably was.”

This café is a gem! 🍰 Fresh bakery, delicious food, and a relaxing atmosphere make it the perfect spot. The staff are friendly, and everything tastes amazing. Highly recommend
Small place and pretty busy. I tried majority of their babkah and burekas and all have been good. Fresh juices are great as well. Will come again if i'm ever in the area
Stopped in for a morning coffee and babka. The chocolate–apple babka was excellent: well-executed, rich, and flavorful, with a pleasing balance between fruit and chocolate. That said, it leaned slightly toward the sweet side and could benefit from marginal restraint in sugar to better highlight the underlying dough and filling complexity. Service presentation was inconsistent. The babka was served on a single-use plate with a black plastic fork, which detracted from an otherwise high-quality product and felt misaligned with the bakery’s artisanal positioning. The cappuccino was served in a ceramic mug, which was appreciated; however, the coffee itself was underwhelming—weak in body with noticeable burnt notes, suggesting issues with extraction, roast profile, or temperature control. Overall assessment: the babka stands out as a strong offering and the clear highlight of the visit. Coffee quality and sustainability-minded service choices represent areas for improvement.
Bakey is a chain of Bakeries all across the Boston area. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, with a nice area to sit and enjoy the pastries. We got a variety of pastries, such as the almond pastry. The almond pastry was quite tasty, with a light almond flavor but baked well and flaky. The other pastries tasted good as well, though the strawberry one wasn't a favorite as it felt too artificial.
We weren’t fans of the gluten free brownie but we LOVED the goat cheese croissant!!! So good! Plenty of street parking out front. Accessible. Real flowers on the tables. Sweet and savory options.
