Crema's Take
“This beloved Black-owned spot in West Philly brilliantly weaves together specialty coffee and curated books celebrating diverse voices, creating a sanctuary where you can linger over a gingerbread latte or creative seasonal drink while browsing shelves organized by genre—including a particularly beloved kids' section. The baristas treat each cup like an art form, and the whole space radiates such genuine warmth and community that it feels less like a transaction and more like stepping into someone's living room, complete with ample seating in a cozy back area perfect for meetings, reading, or just disappearing for an afternoon.”

Super niche very cute. There’s more seating in a back area as well as more books. The book shelf sections are labeled by genre. I especially loved the kid section. The even have a blind date with a book tiny section as well. They sell pins, cards, totes, a thermos, shirts and sweatshirts and of course books and they’re a coffee shop. I’m assuming though you could sit in there for hours and read any of the books, but they are for sale as well. Staff was also very cheerful and seemed to love their jobs.
I just order a gingerbread latte and it was top tier delicious. I couldn't stay long but I seen that it had lots of books and a chill vibe. You can have your morning coffee, Read a good book and relax. The Server we're super nice. I love the whole vibe. I will be returning. Great Coffee Shop.
Great coffee shop attached to an even better book shop filled good books about diversity and inclusivity. They also have an extensive kids section that my 2 year old really loved!🥰
Love it! Right on the corner, parking not too bad. As soon as you walk in the smell of fresh coffee hits you ( I'm a coffee drinker so you know that was an instant high) lol. Very relaxing atmosphere. Wide range off book categories by Black authors, very well represented. Coffee was delicious( Caramel Latte) , they didn't have the sweet potato pie so I opped for a cinnamon swirl danish which was good. Only thing check/Order line is right at the door which was a little tight getting in but use your manners and all is well. Will be back soon!
Stepping into this Black-owned coffee shop feels like entering a space where warmth, creativity, and community meet. The baristas are not just skilled—they're artists, crafting each cup with care and genuine smiles that brighten your day. The cozy yet chic ambiance invites you to stay awhile, blending modern design with a touch of soulful charm. What truly sets this spot apart is its immaculate book selection—a thoughtfully curated collection that sparks inspiration and conversation. Whether you're diving into a good read, catching up with friends, or simply savoring the perfect latte, this coffee shop is an experience in itself. A must-visit for anyone who values quality coffee, culture, and a sense of belonging.
