Crema's Take

Tucked into the Flatiron, this cozy spot strikes that perfect balance between serious coffee craft and welcoming third-space vibes, where a genuinely friendly staff makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Beyond their really solid cappuccinos, they've built a loyal following with creative breakfast dishes like kimchi scrambles and dulce de leche waffles, plus a thoughtful menu that spans espresso martinis and lemongrass tea for all-day appeal. It's the kind of place where people linger—just snag a table away from the counter if you're sensitive to cold drafts, and definitely book ahead during peak hours.

Really nice place and atmosphere, friendly staff. enjoyed the food even though the dish I ordered (Dulce de Leche waffles) was a little bit too sweet for my taste; the cappuccino was really good. We didn’t book a table in advance so we had to sit in one of the few unreserved ones right after the entrance: as it’s winter, every time someone entered the door, cold air came in…not very pleasant. But if you book in advance I believe you would have a great experience.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I made a mistake by sitting at the counter because there’s no leg room and it was freezing outside. So, when the door opened, a huge rush of cold air swept in. Beyond that, I’m sure if I was sitting at a table, I would’ve had a better experience. I had a breakfast sandwich with fries which was pretty ok. The bread was a bit dry for my taste but the sandwich overall was flavorful. I’d go back but I’d definitely reserve a table ahead of time and probably go for the breakfast burrito instead.

My wife and I enjoyed a very positive experience here recently. Food was pleasant (kimchi scramble, burger + fries, broccolini, smoothies, espresso martini, lemongrass tea) and all staff we interacted with--particularly Jake, the manager--were warm and professional. Would definitely return and recommend!

We didn't have a reservation so the wait was expected. Anthony, the host, was very engaging and kept us abreast of when a table would be ready. Offered us water while we waited which was very thoughtful. He finally seated us at a nice sized table towards the back. Anthony, our server, seemed a bit gruff but he was still attentive. We placed our food and drink orders and the drinks were promptly served. The hot chocolate was perfectly made and the Paloma was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Dulce le Leche waffles and, although it was smaller than expected, it was very sweet but very good. The blueberries, slice of banana and freeze dried raspberries were a nice touch. Unfortunately, they couldn't accom my request for scrambled egg whites or turkey sausage/bacon. Also ordered was the salmon toast, steak and eggs and the chicken sandwich to which there were no complaints. There was a minor concern of not having steak sauce to accommodate the steak but they quickly offered other acceptable sauce options. We were very pleased with our experience and will be returning...this time with a reservation.

Came to Hole in the Wall Flatiron without a reservation and ended up waiting about 20–30 minutes for a table. I’d definitely recommend booking ahead. The outdoor seating wasn’t very comfortable since it was pretty cold (the had a heater in one corner, but doesn’t do anything), the indoor may be better. The food was just okay for the price. The sourdough toast was extremely hard to cut and not very fresh, which made the dishes hard to enjoy. Considering the overall experience, I will not be coming back.
