Crema's Take
“Retreat's charm lies in its role as Green Lake's post-workout gathering spot, serving solid breakfast bowls and jerk chicken tacos that justify a detour after your run around the water. The café leans hard into Seattle vibes with creative energy and sustainable practices, though execution can be inconsistent—some customers rave about the food and atmosphere while others have dealt with soggy sandwiches and sluggish service. If you're looking for a casual, family-friendly spot with outdoor seating and decent healthy options, it's worth a shot, but go in with modest expectations for consistency.”
What to expect
Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit, laptop-friendly, quick-grab, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast, pastries, and light food on the menu. Family friendly. Parking available.

See all on Google →For the low, low price of just $25 you, too, can have a soggy, untoasted egg sandwich (with ONLY eggs,) and a tasteless chai. All topped off with crappy service, a long wait time, dirty tables, and a chillingly industrial, unwelcoming space. Overpriced "toast" around the lake.…
Retreat Coffee – Green Lake From the moment I walked into Retreat, I felt like I was stepping into a living mood-board of Seattle creativity and soul. The entire café is wrapped in the powerful, vibrant artwork of Seattle artist Bonnie Hopper, and her presence is unmistakable.…
Great healthy options, especially after going on a walk, jog, or run around Green Lake. Plenty of seating both in and outside. I had the Jerk Chicken Tacos for $6 each and they were delicious and were a pretty good portion size. The other items seemed a little overpriced, but…
Hey friends! This review is about sustainability only :) By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of the plastic we use does not actually get recycled (but rather ends up in landfills, incinerators, and waterways). I was disheartened to see that…
My favorites are the Summer Salad, Breakfast Bowl (add Pico de Gallo), Chicken pesto sandwich, Mediterranean Bowl, and the Strawberry Fields Smoothie. The coffee is fantastic too, and the place has an amazing atmosphere! Plus, there’s free 2-hour parking below in the garage.
