Crema's Take

Le Pain Quotidien's communal wooden tables create an unexpectedly social breakfast experience where you're as likely to strike up a conversation with a stranger as you are to enjoy genuinely excellent pastries and egg dishes. The coffee is solid and the outdoor seating is charming when you can snag a shaded spot, though inconsistent service and uncomfortable patio chairs occasionally undermine what should be a reliably great visit. Go for the food and atmosphere on a weekday morning when you're not rushed, but manage your expectations on weekends.

What to expect

Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast, pastries, and light food on the menu.

Great food. Amazing coffee. Service was good. Came at 8:30 on Saturday and it wasn’t busy. I ordered the Scrambled egg and Gruyère croissant with smoked salmon and it was flaky and delicious! Fresh veggies.

Nice outside if there’s no sun. Hard to get a full table in the shade otherwise. Outdoor chairs are uncomfortable. I asked for cinnamon on my cappuccino twice and never got it. Food is very tasty, and there’s a nice variety.

Amazing location, restaurant, and environment. The indoor vibe is great, especially the huge communal table where customers sit side by side, a concept I really love. The outdoor is cosy too. The staff is friendly, smiling and helpful. However, we were very disappointed by both…

Had a fantastic breakfast here! I ordered the steel cut oatmeal with walnuts and honey, and it was the perfect mix of hearty and sweet—exactly what I was looking for. My hot latte was spot on too, served in this massive “bowl” mug that was really fun to hold—once it cooled down…
