Teabo Café
2191 Cowell Blvd Suite E, Davis, CA
Crema's Take
“Teabo Café is a Davis institution that's earned a devoted following over nearly a decade with its bold, unapologetic approach to both food and drink—their signature creations like peach passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly and pina colada drinks with mango stars show real creativity, though their flavored iced teas can be inconsistently strong. The vibe here is leisurely and social, perfect for lingering over a meal like their crispy chicken katsu with excellent value, just maybe skip the famously pungent garlic fries if you're trying to impress someone on a first date.”

Been going to teabo for like 9 or 10 years now and its always great to swing by whenever I’m hungry
Fair warning DO NOT GET THR GARLIC FRIES ON A FIRST DATE. I incorrectly assumed they'd be like other garlic fries, with some garlic powder seasoning sprinkled on. Nope! A bunch of straight up chopped garlic all over. Interesting but was a bit too strong and obviously will affect your breath and odor. Otherwise we were seriously impressed with the portion sizes of the food. Most other places like Ding Tea will fill up a lot of the container room with wrappers and stuff. Teabo topped up each box we ordered. We didn't know and ended up having a ton of left overs which was still good the next day. I liked that it was the rare location where you could combine flavors. I love my chocolate and taro mix. Be warned though, the almond flavor is a bit strong and ended up making one of our drinks taste more like medicine. Late hours was really convenient and staff was friendly and helpful.
My main issue is that on multiple occasions buying the flavored iced tea it’s been WAYY too strong, like an undiluted tea concentrate or something. Not every time but enough times that I’m not sure whether I’m gonna have a good or negative experience. The green tea is often way oversteeped/bitter and the black iced tea is literally dark/cloudy, can’t even see through it like a typical iced tea. It’s so strong and bitter sometimes that it gives me an intense stomach ache :/
ordered the chicken katsu with rice, sweet chili sauce, spicy ranch sauce and a peach passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly. price for the amount of food was really excellent! food wasn’t exceptional but it was yummy and filling. ordering was easy and the food came out quick & fresh. bubble tea came out great too.
I went here ordered chicken Katsu, fries, and a Pina Colada drink /w mango stars. Katsu was crispy and seasoned well. The fries were good but loaded with garlic and the drink was refreshing. Service was good. The shop has a nice atmosphere music on the TV (K-Pop). I will be going again!
