Stopped in this afternoon with my young teen son who loves Five Watt’s matcha latte. And now Cecelia is officially our favorite barista. My son asked a couple of questions about how it’s prepared and Cecelia took it from there, answering his questions with enthusiasm, showing him how she makes it, taking notes on a piece of paper for him to try at home (he’s been trying to perfect his own at-home matcha lattes), and asked him about school. Such a great place!
Before taking my teenagers to the escape room, we ordered some hot chocolate here. Service is phenomenal. Hot chocolate, teens absolutely loved. They were able to use the furniture to wait and sip their drinks until everybody from the group arrived. The atmosphere is perfect if you’re just meeting up with a friend, needing a study spot, and definitely a hit with my Latino teenagers. I support this business not allowing ICE to interfere with their business. My kids felt safe here.
I couldn’t tell if I stumbled upon a coffee shop in Brooklyn or Minneapolis when I visited this Five Watt over the weekend. Their prices are slightly higher than other coffee places but wow is their coffee good. The vibe of this place was awesome and the Halloween themed decor did not disappoint. Great place for serious coffee drinkers with great ambiance!
The baristas are always so kind and welcoming here. It makes for a heightened experience seeing employees that are generally happy to be working there. Parking is easy, there is a free surface lot adjacent to the building. Depending on the time of day you visit, sometimes it can be slightly challenging to find somewhere to sit as their space isn’t too big. If you are going solo or meeting someone there, you should be in luck to find a spot. I’m impressed with the latte art skills of the baristas. I ordered a lavender latte last time I was there and it hit the spot. They have fun, old funky decor to match the vibe. Enjoy!
We had a really nice time at Five Watt! It has a cool vibe and spacious interior with lots of seating. We got there at 9 am on a Saturday and there were lots of empty seats and by 10 it was getting pretty full! We snagged the couch area which was nice and cozy with the sun streaming in. I got a vanilla latte with cinnamon (basically their atomic blondie without the bitters) and it was really good, albeit slightly less sweet than I prefer, but luckily I had brought some of my own sweetener and was able to sweeten it to my liking. Other than that, it was a very good latte and espresso. I brought my own 14 oz mug and they only charged me for a 10 oz but still filled it up! I was very appreciate of that. I will add as a heads up—the couch area was pretty run down—the carpet, arm chair, and couch were all visibly dirty and look like they could use a deep cleaning.
