Really enjoyed this place. The food was tasty and authentic, and the vibe was great. It’s an awesome spot for students to hang out and spend some time
Cute little Taiwanese cafe in University city that I checked out with my toddler. As a Taiwanese Canadian mom visiting Philly, I was genuinely surprised that this hidden gem was located close to where I was staying and easy to get to. The latte I ordered was 10/10 and the spicy popcorn chicken was delicious. When we got there before noon, we were one of the few that were there, so I find the atmosphere very relaxing and peaceful. Because there aren't any ramps for the stroller, I had to carry my stroller 3 steps up into the shop, but when I asked the staff to help me open the door upon leaving, they were eager to help. Recommendation to the restaurant is that the portion size for the popcorn chicken could be a little bigger for the price point :) Hoping to return in the near future to try their bubble tea selection, and try their other food menu items. @maggiexning
Authentic Taiwanese flavors and drinks brought to UCity. The popcorn chicken with monster (garlic & spicy) is my favorite and definitely reminds me of Taiwan street food. My go to drink is either the Lemon Green Tea with Lychee or the Jin’s Rose. They have seasonal dinner plates and so far my favorite (and very macro friendly) is the BBQ Sesame bento box. I look forward to new menu items they come up with throughout the year. Great job Lulu Cafe for bringing a little piece of Taiwan to UCity!
Such a hidden gem! The shop is adorable—cozy window seating, warm pendant lights, exposed brick, and cute little plants and details everywhere. The food was really good (savory bites were flavorful and fresh), and the boba hit the spot: a perfectly balanced sweetness. I enjoyed everything about the vibe and the menu. I’ll definitely be back!
We visited on a Saturday afternoon and unfortunately had a poor experience. There was only one employee on staff, and the wait time after ordering was about 40 minutes. We ordered two popcorn chicken and coffee. The popcorn chicken was barely lukewarm and heavily seasoned with what tasted like artificial flavoring. We received about 6 small pieces per order, which felt quite overpriced given the portion and quality. After eating the salty chicken, we were left very thirsty, and overall, the meal was unsatisfying. I genuinely want to support local businesses, but between the long wait, lackluster food, and high prices, this experience missed the mark.
