Crema's Take
“Tucked behind a charming gift shop in West Sand Lake, this hidden gem draws devoted visitors from across the region for expertly crafted seasonal lattes and an impressively creative menu that goes beyond coffee—think pistachio and spinach buns alongside crave-worthy savory croissants. The intimate, unhurried space radiates calm simplicity with no pretense, making it the kind of place where locals linger over quality drinks that taste smooth and thoughtfully made rather than over-sweetened. What keeps people coming back, sometimes driving 30-40 minutes or more, is the genuine warmth of the space and the unmistakable care that goes into every cup and pastry.”

Drove 30 minutes just to give this place a try and they didn't disappoint. Gipfel serves up seasonal and specialty lattes that are on point, along with all other styles of coffee. Broad Street bagels supplies them bagels for Saturday and Sunday only. The staff is friendly and attentive. They move the line quickly. Be prepared to wait and parking is definitely rough. There is extra parking at town hall which is across the street.
This little cafe tucked in the back of an adorable gift shop has the best savory croissants I’ve found in the area. The ham and cheese is crave worthy, and I actually drove 40 minutes just to get one because it’s just that good. And the bagels with homemade cream cheese are incredible as well. They have a nice selection of seasonal coffee drinks as well.
Love the people, the coffee, the pistachio, and spinach buns we had. Walked 1.5 hours in the heat to get there and I have to say it's worth it. Trust me.. try them. The store at the front also has a great vibe with lots of local products. It does get busy on the weekend so go with patience or a book. For me, still wish a wait
After seeing a Tik Tok video, we visited Gipfel Coffee this morning with a party of three, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. Our total was $43 plus tip, which covered two 24-ounce coffees, one Battenkill Chocolate Milk, an almond croissant, a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese, and an everything bagel with lox, cream cheese, and capers. I ordered the Cold Brew Coco Mocha and it was perfection. With just cream, it had the perfect balance of coffee and chocolate flavor, more like a dark chocolate taste than a sugary syrup, making it rich, smooth, and not overly sweet. I’m already dreaming of my next one. The food was equally impressive. My toasted everything bagel was done just right; crispy on the outside, with a pleasantly chewy interior. The amount of cream cheese was generous and flavorful. The almond croissant was perfectly flaky and delicious, and the person in our group who had the lox sandwich described it as hearty and satisfying. The location is a short, scenic 14-minute drive from Troy. We enjoyed sitting out back at the tables on a beautiful summer morning. The staff was friendly, efficient, and welcoming. Although the attached little store wasn’t open during our visit, it’s on my list for next time. It’s worth noting that the café was bustling at 8:10 AM when we arrived, which speaks to its popularity. If the parking lot is full, there’s a sign directing you to additional parking. The space is clean, beautifully designed, and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. Gipfel Coffee is truly a Capital District gem, worth the drive from anywhere in the area. I will absolutely be back!
Gipfel was a nice surprise. The coffee is high quality—smooth, not burnt or overly sweet like you sometimes get elsewhere. The space is simple, clean, and has a calm vibe. No hype, no pretense—just a solid local spot. I’d come back.( Honey pistachio bun is my favorite😉)
