Crema's Take

Tucked into a Deadwood parking lot, this charming little coffee shack punches above its weight with genuinely great espresso drinks and a owner-operator named Lily who treats every visitor like an old friend. The no-fuss walk-up and drive-thru windows make it perfect for travelers passing through the Black Hills, and the light food options like their breakfast burritos add substance to your caffeine fix. It's the kind of hidden gem that locals wish they'd found sooner and visitors are grateful to stumble upon by chance.

We were looking for a coffee spot on our vacation and stumbled on Lil's. We used the walk up window & the girl working that day was very polite. We ordered a frappe and a flavored iced latte. We didn't realize the frappe's didn't come with coffee/espresso, and my cinnamon iced latte didn't have any flavor in it, but the coffee itself tasted good. I was able to add some of my iced latte to the frappe to give it the coffee taste it needed :)

I really enjoyed this place. I have visited the area a few times before and struggled to find good coffee. I didn't notice Lil's before, but it does look like this parking lot is a new location for her. Of the 6 days I was in town, I came here on 3 of them (1 day was sunday when she was closed). Lily was super nice, and the coffee was delicious. Prices were extremely reasonable too. Definitely the best coffee in town! As an FYI, she has an inside too if you are walking by.

We walked up to the drive-thru window before realizing there was an inside. She was so nice about it and didn't even mention it until we asked. Our drinks were okay- nothing to write home about. The hot chocolate wasn't sweet, couldn't taste any espresso in the frap, but the specialty drink, the sea turtle was perfect. The service was great and the place looked and felt clean.

My father and I had been sightseeing in the Black Hills for three days and our Airbnb didn’t have a working coffee machine, so we were absolutely thrilled to find Lil‘s little shop, and Lily herself who was not only knowledgeable and friendly, but beyond helpful. My father‘s Cappuccino was perfect, and the London Fog that she made for me was one of the best that I’ve ever had…including the ones that I have had in London. What a gem!

Great coffee!! The breakfast burrito was flavorful but a touch dry. We still enjoyed it. Very cute small coffee shack. Don't blink you might miss it. Super convenient on our way out of town.
