Crema's Take

Tucked in San Marco East, this spot brings authentic Cuban café culture to life with drinks that range from traditional cortaditos to creative specialty creations, each tailored with real care by genuinely friendly staff. The warm, lived-in atmosphere—complete with rich coffee aromas and housemade pastries—makes it feel like a genuine neighborhood gathering place rather than a trendy imitation, perfect for lingering over your drink or catching up with friends.

From the moment we walked in, we knew this place was special. The atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and genuinely authentic — not the fake “Pinterest version” of authentic, but the real deal. The aromas alone told us we were in for something incredible. The food? Absolutely next level. Every bite tasted like it came straight from someone’s family kitchen. Bold flavors, perfectly balanced seasoning, fresh ingredients — you can tell they don’t cut corners here. This isn’t watered-down, play-it-safe food. This is the kind of meal that makes you pause mid-bite and just nod in appreciation. And the service? Unreal. The staff was friendly from the start, but Gabriela truly stood out. She was so kind, welcoming, and attentive without ever being overbearing. She made us feel like valued guests, not just another table to turn. She anticipated what we needed, checked in at just the right moments, and carried herself with such genuine warmth. It’s rare to meet someone who clearly loves what they do — and Gabriela absolutely does. Between the authentic food, the welcoming vibe, and the exceptional service, this place isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience. We’ll absolutely be back, and next time, we’re bringing friends. From the moment we walked in, we knew this place was special. This is my first trip to 1928. The atmosphere is very offputting. I walked in around 12:30 on a weekday and there were only two other people in the restaurant. The space was very cold and uninviting and did not have a warm restaurant feel. it almost felt like a child’s playroom. I don’t really know how to describe it. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and Maduros. Maduros were very good. They had the crispy little caramelized burnt bits on the edges that I love Cuban sandwich was good as well and the service was excellent. The atmosphere however was lacking. I felt very uncomfortable in there and could not wait to leave. I have not been to any other locations, so I do not know if the interior spaces are the same at all locations. I hope not.

EXCELLENT across the board. Staff was extremely friendly, and made very helpful and delicious recommendations. The drink I ordered was tailored to my liking and was one of the best iced mocha lattes I’ve ever had (not on their menu.) The Cuban Empanada 12/10 Chicken empanada 10/10 Guava & cheese pastry 10/10 Service was 10000/10. I’ll definitely look forward to trying more and different things from 1928!

1928 Cuban Bistro is a excellent place for your caffeine fix. They have all the drinks you desire. I had some Coladas and a pumpkin spice dirty chia latè. Very reasonable price and great staff. Come check 1928 out.

I recently visited this new location, and my experience was fantastic. I ordered a Cortadito and my favorite, the 1928 empanada, and both did not disappoint! The Cortadito was just right—strong yet smooth—and the empanada was hot and crispy. The space is spacious, making it perfect for hanging out with friends, studying, or working. The owner was present and very kind, and the staff were friendly as well. If you have not been to one of their locations ( I think its 7 locations in Jax ) , you must try this cafe! They have amazing Cuban sandwiches and pastries.
