Common Grounds Sit and Chill Coffee Shop
2736 Virginia St, Houston, TX
Crema's Take
“Tucked away from Upper Kirby's busy streets, this espresso-focused spot feels less like a commercial venture and more like stepping into a friend's living room, where owner Michelle genuinely delights in crafting both traditional and creative drinks like cinnamon rolls and caramel macchiatos. The magic isn't just in the coffee itself—it's in how guests consistently mention feeling at home, welcomed even during unexpected tropical storms, making it the kind of place where laptops, lingering conversations, and real connection all happen naturally.”

This place is more than just a coffee shop, it's fate. I enjoyed a chai latte with laughter. Great experience! The atmosphere is very homie/cozy. You feel so comfortable, right at home. The cinnamon roll was delicious as well. The cinnamon roll is big enough for 4 people. In the pic below I am showing half of the cinnamon roll at home. I had a little trouble finding Common Grounds Sit and Chill, I called, and Michelle (owner) picked up, and came outside for me to see where the shop was. I will be returning.
This is a GREAT Coffee Shop! Good vibes and cozy. The owner is very professional and pleasant. The coffee was amazing (Caramel macchiato) ☕️. You want be disappointed
It is rare moment when I write a review, but this place and owner are increadible and deserve 6 starts our of 5. I came from Russia to visit my friend and was looking for a coffee place near to me. Fresh hamdmade cinnamon bun attracted me and I desided to in. The owner of place Michelle is amazing and has great hospitality. She offered me special pistachio latte that was awesome and of course fresh cinnamon bun that is also taste great. Many thanks for such experience. Place is also very cozy.
Michelle the owner of this cozy coffee shop is such a joy and you can tell she loves what she does. She welcomed our little family in while a tropical storm hit suddenly and dried us off and took amazing care of us. The “uncommon latte” is delicious and you must try her handmade cinnamon rolls!
Wonderful little coffee shop to sit and sip nestled back a little ways from the hustle and bustle of Upper Kirby, with ample street parking. The owner, Michele, is deeply invested in creating a welcoming space in her community. The coffee shop is attached to a phenomenal mixed restaurant/bar space if you’re there a little later and hungry for a bite, but for those in the mornings, the cinnamon rolls look absolutely scrumptious.
