Crema's Take

This neighborhood gem has built serious devotion around their pillowy-soft cinnamon rolls that locals genuinely rank among the best in the city, while the rotating menu keeps regulars coming back to discover what's new. Beyond the pastries, they've nailed the balance between a quick caffeine stop and a comfortable spot to linger, with thoughtful touches like vegan options that show they're thinking about everyone who walks through the door. There's a reason "Welcome Home" resonates so deeply—it actually feels like one.

This is officially a staple in the neighborhood I’ve stopped by Welcome Home several times since it opened over a year ago now. The pastries are f r e s h – my favorites have been the cinnamon roll, this tomato-y danish, and the croissants! Flaky, buttery, everything you could ever dream of in a bakery nearby. The no dogs thing..is oddly a big deal here? This neighborhood is fullllll of dogs, and most cafes nearby get away with letting dogs in and out… I know they are just following rules, but sometimes you just gotta look away idk. I’d be able to visit more often if it weren’t for that bc the bakery is near the park. Overall-great pastries, i love the creative, rotating selection of goods, very tasty bread, decent coffee, efficient staff.

This is a new place that lots of New Yorkers are talking about right now, particularly their cinammon roll. Wasn't bad at all! My favorite part was easily the texture (soft and gooey), not laminated like many other places. However, thought it was a bit too sweet and could use some more cinnamon vs. sugar ratio. Still worth trying! Coffee was ok. Their other baked goods look good too (especially their cardamom bun).

One of my favorite bakeries, hands down. Not only because they’re four blocks away from my apartment…but because everything they make is delicious and thoughtful. The name “Welcome Home” really resonates — I do feel at home there. I go often enough that I wish they’d let me live inside the gooey kouign amann, but alas, I’m always met with a hello, a smile, and an excellent pastry.

My friend is a cinnamon roll fiend and says theirs are the best she’s had. As someone who cannot tolerate lactose, I am passing along the message here. Also appreciate that they have a vegan muffin! And I’ll definitely be back to try one of their loaves, which all looked delicious. Notes: They do stagger when they bake their goods, so pastries are first thing, baguettes around noon, etc etc. So if you’re looking for a particular item, definitely check their online presence to see when it’ll be available. And while there were still pastries by the time it got to be 10a, almost everyone in lined ordered a cinnamon roll. A hot ticket item!

I can’t believe I’m only now leaving a review after so many visits—this bakery is truly unreal! Every time I come by, there’s something new and exciting on the menu, but their classic staples always keep me coming back. The “Pig in Bed” and cinnamon roll are absolute must-tries. The Pig in Bed is a savory pastry with perfectly seasoned meat wrapped in the flakiest, buttery crust imaginable. And the cinnamon roll? I’m not usually a cinnamon roll person, but this one converted me. The dough is pillowy-soft and melts in your mouth, while the icing has just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess—perfection. I stopped by today later than usual (around 1:30 PM) and was pleasantly surprised by how much was still available. I picked up a baguette and tried the seasonal Chili Mango Danish—and WOW. The mango filling is bright, flavorful, and so addictive I could eat a whole tub of it. You really can’t go wrong here—every pastry I’ve tried has been amazing. Don’t skip the milk bread either—it’s super soft, buttery, and pulls apart like a dream. Bonus points for the dog leash hooks outside—such a thoughtful touch that shows they care about all their customers, even the ones with pups in tow. Whether you’re a regular or visiting for the first time, this bakery is a gem worth going out of your way for.
