Poindexter
151 Goodman Dr, Cincinnati, OH
Crema's Take
“Tucked into the elegant lobby of the Graduate hotel, Poindexter trades high volume for a leisurely vibe where you can actually linger over your coffee and pastries, though be prepared for premium pricing and occasional service inconsistencies during peak times. The staff leans warm and attentive on quieter days, and the well-decorated space makes it feel more like a destination café than a quick caffeine stop, even if the drip coffee itself keeps things grounded and unpretentious.”

Phenomenal. Have been here 3 different times over the last few years. The staff is always super friendly, and the food is solid.
The atmosphere is nice in the well decorated lobby of the graduate. They serve coffee but have limited other options. It's very pricey, $20 for a waffle w/o service, w/o topping. It's served on a tray like cheap fast food.
Per the comments below, they do take names on food orders now. It sounds like that criticism was from fairly early in the business’s life, and they’ve gotten some of the organizational kinks worked out, as evidenced by their not being any during my stay this weekend. The drip coffee was just fine (if you prefer a dark roast, there is a Starbucks up the block in the hospital— Poindexter is on the lighter side of medium), and the espresso was fantastic, and the egg sandwich was much better than coffee shops typically serve up.
Saturday staff was friendly, Sunday was all business (which is fine, and much less awful time-wise). However, Saturday was a complete disaster. 20 minutes for a sandwich with no variation is unacceptable for an order at the counter and wait breakfast place. One woman I spoke to had been waiting for 30 minutes for an avocado toast. While waiting I saw no fewer than 3 orders be picked up by the wrong people, there just is no organization. Breakfast sandwiches both mornings, Saturday- yolk hard, Sunday- yolk easy… Again, fine, but it would be nice to know what you are going to get. Consistency and time to get items are the main issues; food and drink quality are fine.
Drip coffee was ok Suggest that they take names with hot food orders so that on busy days, people know which orders below to the right person. I grabbed someone else's burrito. Felt pretty bad but they were not doing a good job managing the food coming out of the back. Burrito was good though!
