Crema's Take

Eller Bakery draws serious attention for its commitment to freshly milled flour and technique-forward baking, creating standout moments like their sourdough croissants and impressively crafted egg sandwiches that rival spots like Tartine. The airy, inviting space makes it a genuinely appealing spot to linger over specialty drinks and light breakfast, though execution can be inconsistent—some dishes like their avocado toast shine brilliantly while others fall short of the quality promise.

I chose Eller Bakery because they highlight the use of freshly milled flour. That suggests a focus on technique and quality. The execution did not reflect that. The croissant was poorly executed. It lacked lamination and structure, with no discernible layering. Instead of a crisp exterior and airy interior, it was dense and doughy. The Eggs Benedict, served on a Sonora sourdough biscuit, was undermined by the base. The biscuit was extremely dense and appeared overworked, resulting in a tight crumb that overwhelmed the dish. It lacked balance and lightness. The French omelet was properly cooked but leaned heavy in texture. The accompanying potatoes and tomatoes were excellent and were the highlight of the meal. The milk steamer was not functioning, which limited basic coffee options. For a bakery and café, that is a noticeable operational miss. The sourdough boule and the cheddar rosemary loaf were both dry internally, suggesting overbaking or insufficient hydration. The crumb lacked elasticity and moisture, which is especially disappointing in naturally leavened bread. Overall, the technical execution across multiple items was not worth the price point.

Went to Eller Bakery and honestly I am kind of surprised by some of the reviews because my wife and I thought this place was really really good. We were thoroughly impressed. The space itself is awesome huge indoor seating area with a small outdoor section too and it is tucked away in a spot where you would never expect it. We both ordered food and drinks and everything hit. I got a latte special it was some kind of cinnamon dulce latte and it was phenomenal I drank the entire thing before the food even came out. For food I ordered the classic breakfast and it was done so well. The bacon was thick but somehow perfectly crispy which is hard to pull off and that alone impressed me. The sourdough slices paired perfectly with the eggs and the eggs were cooked beautifully not runny not dry just the perfect scrambled texture which is harder than people think. The potatoes really shocked me though they were cut in this accordion style and cooked in a way that gave them an amazing crunch while still being soft and airy inside definitely a standout. The bacon was probably my favorite part overall it was just perfect. My wife ordered the tomato bisque with the arugula salad and rye bread and she loved it. You could tell the soup was homemade with great seasoning oregano and a little basil and it paired really well with the bread. Overall we were both extremely impressed with the quality and execution. I would absolutely recommend this spot whether you want to sit and work study grab a great coffee or enjoy really solid homemade baked goods and food.

The egg sandwich was impressive. I had no expectations and was surprised. It reminded of my last great breakfast sandwich at Tartine. I didn't think I'd care for a sourdough based croissant but I didn't discern a difference in taste, at least in a sandwich. Loved the spacious, light interior. In the 7am hour, it was pretty relaxed and not too busy. I need to return to try their baked goods.

The atmosphere is amazing—very cool and inviting! I tried the avocado toast, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was incredibly refreshing with excellent presentation. However, I wasn’t impressed with the coffee. The barista could definitely use some training, or they need a better barista altogether to improve their coffee quality. I also ordered a croissant and asked them to warm it up, but they said they couldn’t. Honestly, I think they should offer that option. It was around 3:00 PM, and croissants have a lot of butter, so they need to be warmed up to avoid becoming too tough to eat. A warm croissant would make it much more enjoyable, and this isn’t asking for luxury—it's just basic service unless the croissant is fresh out of the oven in the morning.

I was so looking forward after I google it. But it turns out to be a bit disappointing. They don’t have enough of parking and just difficult to find a spot so my husband drop me off and we decided to ordering to go instead. Atmosphere is nice and staffs are friendly. The line is long (Sunday lunch time, about 20min wait for to go order) I thought long wait means good food but not. The $24 chicken sandwich is good but a bit overpriced. The $22 Brioche french toast wasn’t good at all. It’s more like a cake and not fluffy at all. Cinnamon is a bit overboard. I have one bite and give up. The egg Benedict is not impressive. We also order some pastry. Their sourdough croissant is good though. I think this is a good place for a coffee and pastry but not for brunch/lunch. A bit overpriced.
