Crema's Take
“Malaparte feels like stepping into an intimate Roman trattoria tucked away in the heart of New York, where the handmade pasta and carefully crafted sauces reveal a kitchen that genuinely cares about its craft. The neighborhood charm and attentive service create a perfect refuge for lingering over espresso and pastries, whether you're catching up with a friend or enjoying a leisurely weekend breakfast in their peaceful dining room.”

This whole experience was perfection. It felt like an intimate experience, with great service and great food. All staff was so attentive and attractive (added bonus). They are experts at customer service and apparently body language because before I could even say anything, they’d ask if I needed anything. They even re-lit our candle without asking. As you know, candles are very important to the atmosphere and vibe. We were able to make a reservation about an hour prior. My 2 friends and I shared 3 items that I can’t recall the actual names of (broccoli/sausage, a mushroom pasta, and grilled calamari) but finished with Tiramisu. Such a great experience.
Authentic Italian right in the center of the WV!! It’s easy to get a table and some of the best Italian food we’ve had in the city. Their pesto and bolognese pastas, made with homemade pasta, came steaming and were delicious. The dough of the pizzas is very good, they should consider adding more flavors. We accidentally made a mistake when ordering pizza for our little one and the staff took initiative to make another one for him without us asking. Very friendly and attentive service!
This place was recommended by our waiter (who happened to be Italian) at a Michelin-starred restaurant. It is obvious the staff cares about their product. The sauces and noodles were handmade and the wine pairings were on point. As good as the meal was - we shared Finocchio arugula salad and the lasagna bolognese - the desserts were great. My wife had the chocolate cake and I had their riff in a tiramisu
Made reservations for brunch on a holiday Saturday. The neighborhood vibe and interior decorations definitely carried the awesome holiday spirit. The place wasn't as busy, noise levels on the lower end, friendly staff, and the old school exposed brick wall is what the ambiance was all about. Our order: PAPPARDELLE PORCINI ($25), FUSILLI AL PESTO ($22), and Rigatoni with butter and cheese. The pappardelle was the best dish on our table. Excellent mushroom, brilliant pasta. Service was super quick and our food arrived within 10 mins of placing our order. Will be our go to places when craving some authentic Italian food .
Excellent Italian Food. Really strange service. We ordered many dishes to share for our party of four and enjoyed each one. Outdoor seating is very nice and quiet while indoors is more lively. The grilled squid was a group favorite and the steak was delicious as well. Lasagna and gnocchi were also worth ordering. The service, however, made our experience feel very odd. It wasn’t that it was aloof or unpleasant, but the staff did seem like they had never worked at a restaurant before - all of them, collectively. We ordered all plates to share and let them know that we’d be having dinner “family style”. Bread was dropped with no bread plates and dishes were delivered with no serving utensils. When asked for serving utensils for the four dishes, the server responded with “how many?” He also looked confused that we needed more than one steak knife between the four of us. When we entered the restaurant to use the restroom, we found the staff standing around talking, blocking the doorway with no awareness of the customer. When we had finished, plates were clumsily cleared causing a wine glass to tumble and for some reason, the server’s fingers with inside the glass! Finally, while my party was in the restroom, I was abruptly asked to leave the table because there was a party waiting. Everyone is very nice and the food is great. I would definitely recommend. Just don’t expect a refined dining experience.
