Crema's Take

This Milwaukee gem blends a working artist community with a thoughtful cafe tucked inside a beautifully restored historic brick building that pulses with creative energy. Beyond solid traditional coffee drinks, you're stepping into a genuine maker space where musicians play open jam nights, aspiring creators set up studio time, and families find room to breathe—it's the rare cafe that feels equally welcoming whether you're working for two hours or hosting your kid's first performance. The whole operation has that special quality of a place built by people who actually care about nurturing their community, not just moving coffee.

Fun to visit. Cool to set up a temp work space. A place for aspiring creators in a comfortable maker space with an independent cafe on site.

What a cool place. My son played his first open jam there last night. The other musicians were very inviting to the younger ones and the audience was extremely appreciative of the experience. A little gem of a place right down the street from Dave’s Guitar shop. Stop on in! Enjoy the music, hang with some local talent, have a snack and if you play, get up on stage and PLAY!! We’ll be back and we’ll be bringing our young local musician!!

I'm not sure how long this has been here, but this space is beautiful! They have a great gallery and so much space for activities! Food and coffee is a plus!

My father (& his father before him) owned So-Lite Neon Signs, which once occupied this historic Cream City brick building. I now live in PA so HAD to come see what's become of this place as soon as I got back to MKE. Much disappointment when I realized Arts @ Large was closed Dec 23-25. Got to peek into the windows at least & can see what a fantastic job they've done keeping a lot of the original charm & details. Can't wait to get back & see the inside ✈ (& sorry! Had to post a pic of my 4 bros that all worked at So-Lite 😘)
